I work part time in a restarant, anyone in uniform gets half off their meal plus a big thank-you for thier service. I also have a " son is serving" bumper sticker, and get thumbs up from a lot of other drivers.

Graduation was wonderful! Matt was front and center, assistant to (I don't know his title) the guy holding the sword so I got to stare at him the whole time! It was such a moving and uplifting event, I almost wish I had more sons who could join so I could do it over and over again! My daughter isn't interested in serving (she's 16), but I'm working on it LOL.

It took me a while to realize that was sunshine today! I peaked under the buckets I have covering my roses and they still look good. Last year I had to replace 11 of them because of ice. I'm ready to get my nails dirty and start diggin'!!

I see you belong to Navy moms who quilt, have you looked at the site knitting for the Navy?? although the title is knitting all types of "blankets" are welcome. I have knitted 2 afghans, so far, and my mom is in the process of crocheting one.
What does your son do as a Seabee, mine is a construction mechanic, he went to A school at Prt Huneme, Cal.,he was home almost a year, when he was sent to Gulfport, Miss. and deployed from there.

So your Paul was in the reserves, and then got an Active Duty assignment? I am still new to how this all works. How long has he been deployed? Do you ever get to talk with him? I still hope that someday Ben will go to college, too, but I don't know - he certainly hated high school, but he LOVED A School, and actually said that was his "college." So I guess we'll see - a couple more years of maturity wouldn't hurt!

What is his rate? Is it something that translates into a civilian job? Ben is an Equipment Operator, and in a better economy, there would be more opportunities for him. For now, he has to settle for his drill weekends, and working a different job in between.
