Almost done...
My journey as a "Boot Camp Mom" is almost done. I have two weeks from today until I will be with my Sailor. One week from tomorrow he will be going through Battle Stations. It has been a tough experience. For both of us. I remember the day we dropped him off at the recruiter's office. The long night that followed. Waiting is so hard to do...
From the time you first find out you are pregnant with your child you wait. You wait to go to the doctor for the first time. You wait to hear their heart beat. You wait for the pictures on the ultrasound. Then you wait for the big day when they enter the world. From that moment you wait for them to sleep all night, get their teeth, sit and walk on their own, learn to talk, etc. Then you wait for them to go to school, get out of school, and go back to school after a long summer of "I'm bored" aft… Continue

My son is in Pensacola (PIR Aug 7). He arrived there this week - Wed, Aug. 12. I saw your comment that you made a surprise visit to your son this weekend. How far ahead do they know if they will have liberty for a weekend or not? Are you getting to spend much time with your son or does he have to be on base a lot? This is all new for me and unfortunately, I'm not getting any information from my son because he's making all his calls to his new wife.
We want to plan a trip down to P-cola to see our son on a weekend when his wife is not planning on going down there. I would appreciate any information you can give me about visiting down there (we live in Kentucky and it's about a 12 hour drive). My husband and I both work in schools and we have to make arrangements for substitutes ahead of time, so we need any information you can provide us about visiting P-cola.
I'm inviting you as a friend so that I can send and get messages from you.

Chon's mom said… - We're doing well. Chon is at GL for A-school and will graduate from there on Nov. 6. After that he'll probably be shipped off to Fleet Marine Training at Camp LeJeune or somewhere (who knows at this point). Anyway he will get 2 weeks leave between A-school and FMT. Can't wait to see him again. I just mailed a box (with the same shoes that were in the kid-in-the-box)--remember "the box". Chon is liking Hospital Corpsman school, but he must study a lot. He had his 1st test and passed, yeah. He was told that it gets more difficult as they progress. How is Cody? Chon really liked him, thought he was so cool. Thanks for staying in touch. Tammy Song
