Thank you Bonnie. I'm going to see if he can do that. He may be in Groton right after A school graduation so it will be a different departure city. I love that beautiful smile your sailor has!

Bonnie, would we be able to buy tickets at the Aquatic Park, where you are going to be? If we can buy tickets there, I suggest that we all meet there.

Bonnie, I found these other 2 replies as well that I'm posting for you.

Frankly, all he has to do is study hard and pass the Navy classes, do well in his assigned work, and in due season request permission to attend college classes. The Navy College office or his Education Officer will provide any specific direction to get it done. Steer him that way.

Greetings, the Navy College program is excellent and you can check under their "rating roadmaps" page to see the "recommended" credits for specific ratings/paygrades and courses. It's up to the specific educational institution to determine what credit to accept, and fees, etc. Hope this helps.
Happy 4th of July! Kevin

Hi Bonnie, I am going to copy and paste the info that Kevin sent to me. His first response was over my head...this is the more "user friendly" version. Hope this helps.

Hi Sheila, at some point after his schooling the courses get added to his "smart transcript" which is his offical Navy recommendation of college credit. Once he is in a situation to actually apply to an educational program and take classes (NOT during any official Navy schooling, but usually once they are settled in their "gaining command" and actually working in their assigned trade) the college will assess and award his credits.

Hi Bonnie, Jonathan is in the pre-Seal program in Great Lakes. He's due to leave for San Diego sometime the first week of August. Then the really grueling part of his training starts. My Mom and I are planning to visit him in GL the last weekend of July. Will probably make the trip to CA in late Sept or early Oct. Fort Meade is not far from Washington DC, or Annapolis. Don't know if you've been to DC before but it's worth the trip. It's easiest to take the Metro in from the Carrollton Station. You can probably get that info on line. I will be away the last two weekends of July so probably won't be here when you come. I will give Elizabeth a call, see what she's up to. I'm at work and have to cut this short, but will get back to you. Patricia

From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
give her room to grow up and make her own sound and responsible decisions.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made
