My son went through all of his training as he was to deploy to Iraq on 08/16/09. At the last hour practically, they cancelled the deployment so it is back to business as usual for him at Camp Pendleton. We are, of course, very happy that he did no...

My son was just told the other day that he will deploy to Iraq in a couple of weeks. The date was moved up a month so he will not able to take his planned leave. He was going to come to see us then spend more time with his children. He is recently...

You can have your son call Sallie Mae himself when he is free to do so and speak with the people about the military deferrment. Since the loan is in his name and he is responsible for it, you can't really do this for him. You may get his deploymen...

My son graduated 10 years ago and there was never any talk of paying for the parents to attend. His recruiter was pretty truthful about their expenses and what to expect except he promised to write to my son when he got up to Great Lakes and that ...

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The opportunities available for my son who shocked us with enlisting after a year in college. He earned a 4 year academic scholarship but found it boring. The Navy has helped him mature and he is in a profession he enjoys that he can also do in the civilian world upon retirement.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!! My son loves it too, he's in the Nuke program and will be going into a sub soon; I imagine then I won't hear from him nearly as much. I wrote also because we are almost neighbors. I live in Willis TX, just North of Houston. I'm thinking of a support/funloving group for Navy for Moms in our area; would you be interested? You are the first one I have asked. I guess I need to make a group to see just how many of us there are.....Congratulations again!!

We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.

Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!
