Thanks for the info Gloria. I was beginning to get concerned with all the info. I know my son said he should be at the airport by about 6 or 6:30 if weather permitted but to not book the flight before 10. I didn't ask what time his shuttle leaves....

mom4sons....my son said he had inspection at 5:30 a.m. and then he would be ready to leave. He said not to book a flight before 10:00 a.m. in the event the roads were bad. I could have got an earlier flight but didn't want to take the chance on hi...

Have any of your sailors mentioned being briefed about Christmas break? My son said they have not been told exact dates yet. In other groups, I have read where they will be dismissed the morning of Dec 18 and return Jan 3. I guess I am just gettin...

YEA!!! Becky, so glad so glad you got the notice about Christmas leave. Still waiting for my son to let me know something. He says he is to busy studing to worry about that. Guess I just have to learn to be more patient. HA!

Proud mom...try not to let it bother you. I have found that some mom's just have different affections for their children, which I never understood. Next to God and my husband, my children are my life no matter how old they are. I still call my son...

boot camp and church

Our son recently went into the Navy and is in his 3rd week of boot camp. We received a surprise phone call from him and were so happy to actually get to speak with him and hear he was doing great. His and our only concern thus far is that he said there was not a Baptist Church on the base for him to go to. I told him he needed to double check with his officer about the services. Does anyone know if there maybe a Baptist Chaplin on base that has services.

Thank you,

Cheryle,

I just read the news PRAISE THE LORD HE PASSES. I have tears of joy for you and your son. We also will be leaving Wednesday morning about 0600 from upstate NY. I shall see you on Thursday at the meet and greet. Then I will give you that big hug.

Cheryle, That is awesome to hear that your son has a strong faith in God. Two verses that I had sent my son are Philippians 4:13 and Jeremiah 29:11. I also sent him the lyrics to the song Voice of Truth by Casting Crowns with bible verses.
My God wrap his arms around you.

Thanks for all the info. It does look like he is in the first group. So you think I will be able to bring him a few things from home for his room? From what I understand, they are more like dorm rooms. I guess I could always bring them and if he can't have them, take them back home.

The following divs aftr the first two have to wait in BC until usually that Wed to be moved or sent to their schools. I say your son is lucky because he will have the luxury of having you there to give him his personal items (cell, laptop, shampoos he likes, deodarant, boxers, etc). You then can help him shop at the Nex for items he needs - black backpack, iron, etc. Nothing has to be shipped. Well his civvies have to be. We brought him comfortable clothes for the hotel rm. and boxers. Hope I have answered some of your questions.

Okay it looks like your son is in the first div which means you (he) hit the jackpot!!! As I said the first two are grad n go. He will be moved over to school on the same day as grad. AFter grad they have short time with family and then go back to room. They have packed bags night before and bus is there to take them "across street". In my son's case the bus was late, etc. We were waiting in the hotel rm complaining how unfair everyone gets their Sailor and it is almost 5 pm Well he finally called us on his cell and told us to pick him up. What had happened was he had to settle in (throw his bag in his new rm) get debriefing and he was free to be with us the whole weekend until Sun pm. Blissful after BC (lol) for him and me!! hahaha
