Hi all, it's Donna Giroir from Harahan. We just learned that our son will leave for Great Lakes on Monday September 28. Anybody else in this group have kids going around that time too?

Any Louisana moms waiting for their kids to be called for boot camp?
My son signed up a few weeks ago and was told that his Great Lakes boot camp training schedule is "pending". Since that time only one of the others in his group have been called so far. He was told that it could be soon or as late as sometime next...

- Because we leave on the westbank we were able to bring her to the hotel for a later time. Other than that the recuritor would have picked her up for 4 pm. Have your son pack "light" My daughter went with a Backpack, 1 change of clothes, toothbrush, small tube of toothpaste, small deorant, small brush, cell phone w/charger, her wallet gave her $10.00,she had her ID and SS card. When they leave the hotel they will go to barracks to get weighed in and do a drug test and fill out some more paperwork. My daughter did call me from her cell phone when they were on the bus to the airport, the navy will give them some money for lunch. (I just wanted to make sure she had a few extra dollars) The trip is 2 1/2 - 3 hours from Louisiana to Great Lakes, IL. I received a very short phone call from her letting me know she made it and she will try to write as soon as she can. Within 3 days I received the "Kid in the Box." Yesterday I received a Letter from the Dept of Defense and a 3 line letter from her. I hope this helps you . Contact me anytime.
