Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. June is crazy for me at school, I was there till way after 5 each day and then come home to even more work to be ready for the next day. I am finally done but had a major project I had to finish before the next school year which starts for us teachers on July 13th. I turned it over to my principal for final revisions yesterday. I then need to make corrections and then go in for copying so I can present to the staff next Wednesday. I swore I would have no outside distractions till it was done!!
I don't actually have to go back till mid August except for two gays of meetings next week. We are year round and on a track system and I am on the first track off. I start the new school year on vacation when the other 3 tracks start back! We teach for 4 months and then have a month off. I love year round and the breaks all year instead of only three months in the summer.
Just curious if you have heard a return date yet from David? You can email my private email where we can share more info. Are you going down to see the plane come in? We went for the Okinawa Deployment homecoming and hope to be at this one too!
Keep in touch and I will try to be much better. The beginning of the year is pretty busy but not as crazy as the end of the year with report cards, open house, kinder promotion, new kindergarten orientation, IEP meetings, Retention meetings, oh it just goes on and on!! Then I volunteer for the huge beginning of the year project when the end of the year just ended! I am crazy but it makes more sense than other teachers who are already getting all their stuff together for the first day of school. I at least have till the middle of August!
I checked out your profile and will have to ask my son Brandon if he knows your son David. I see he is a CM, my son is an EO but I think they are both Alpha dogs. I will be going down to Port Hueneme in August when they come home. We are about 6 hours from Ventura, we live in Sacramento. I was very happy that Brandon got Port Hueneme it would have been really hard having him in Gulfport. He joined NMCB in April of 07 and made E3 the last go round. This deployment has been the hardest yet but Brandon calls at least once a week if not more. Email is sketchy but he usually answers my facebook emails within a week but usually just a one liner. I will be glad when they are back and he can call more regularly! I teach Kindergarten in the Elk Grove District and we are year round so I still have 2 more weeks of school. I get my long break over the summer, 7 weeks, and won't have to go back till mid August. Praying he will be home on time and I can see him for a bit before I have to go back to a new class. If not then I already have a substitute lined up to cover for me when I go down and see the plane come in. When they came home from the last deployment it was a hassle of when they were really getting in and that was with good communication. Not looking forward to that dance again. I guess he can call us when he leaves Kuwait and we can head down and just wait till he gets there. I assume they will fly in to Pt Magu but who knows. He thinks they might be bussed to the base first to turn in their weapons before they can see family. Did your son deploy to Iraq with 5 and if so how did they come home? I think I read that he had been a Seabee for 3 1/2 years so a few more months than mine.
Well it is getting late and I have school tomorrow. I best end this. Love to hear from you and your experiences. Glad to find another mom from The Professionals! Where do you live in Oregon?
Sue
thanks! It's great to hear from you. Joey is stationed in San Diego on the Nimitz. He left for bc at the end of August. He has such a maturity to him--dream on that I could even be half that! lol
He is coming home in less than a month and I can't wait to see him. I'm thankful we at least have email when he is out to sea. He plans on surprising his girl friend at work--like he surprised me Christmas morning. What a great kid:)
Tommy is doing really well...thanks. He just had surgery last month and has been doing infusion of antibiotics every day at the hospital. I'm confident he will be healthy soon.
I look forward to hearing more about you and your family. Have a great weekend
Annie
I'm so glad you checked back with N4M I know there are other moms out there I just couldn't find any. I'm missing Jason already. We had a nice visit last night, but it's always hard to hold back the tears sometimes. Did you know they are getting ready for the Submarine B-day ball? Got the email from the onbudsman. Maybe the boys will get us some pics of that. Talk to you soon, Melissa
