Getting around Great Lakes without a car

Hello,
I'm new in the States and I'm really nervous to go to Great Lakes for my daughter's graduation. I wonder if any one here could tell me how to get around Great Lakes, and what transportation shall I take going to the hotel which is near the naval station and going back to the airport. I will be flying down to O Hare Airport. My budget is really tight, and I don't know if I can afford to ride the taxi. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Gemma, I am kinda confused about what is going on in A school. The other day my daughter said it might be months before she classed up, then today on her facebook I read where she might be classing up soon.... So I really don't know, Elyse is an AS. What is Aurora? I heard that Aurora has a beautiful singing voice. Take care.

Gemma, I was not at the meet and greet, we got into Chicago too late after a 12 hour car drive with a 5 month old baby.... My daughter's first name is Elyse.
I think my daughter will be in Pensacola longer than yours apparently. My daughter said her school will last about 18 weeks and she won't even start classes until around the 1st of October. About the phone calls, I know I really like hearing my daughter's voice it definately makes it easier on them being gone if you can talk to them. My daughter said Pensacola is really nice!

Gemma, How are you doing? I missed seeing you at graduation. I know that both of our daughters know each other and are going to Pensacola together. Hope we can stay in touch. How did you like the graduation? I know it was hard for me to leave my daughter. She had to be back on base at 5:30 Friday for watch so we only got about 5 hours with her total. I had to drive back home Saturday. Take care.

Gemma, I got a letter from my daughter today. I had asked her if she knew your daughter, and she said she does and that she is very nice. My daughter did not pass her live fire test, and she has been sick. She is hoping she can return to full duty and pass her shooting test next time so that she doesn't get held back. I sure hope she doesn't. It makes me nervous about trying to go to graduation. I don't want to make the trip and find out she isn't going to graduate. Don't want to miss it either. Anyway, just wanted to let you know my daughter does know your daughter. Take care.

Hello Gemma,
We went to the grad July 17. What an incredible day! I still look at the pics and cry. You will love it. Make sure you eat really early before arriving at the training center(6:00 am). They have no food there, just machines. You want to get there early to get a seat and though you sit for 2-3 hours waiting, it is worth it(bring a book). We stayed at a hotel about 20 minutes away, not convenient but we wanted quiet and away time with our son. We got a great package deal thru Expedia.com. It included flight, car and hotel. Check into those deals. They have a few hotels right there if all you want is a bed(they are not the nicest I have heard) and you can take a shuttle. Why dont you start a Blog here...name it Need ideas about Grad hotels. See what you get.
