Hi, I am in Farmersville. My sailor is in DEP. He's not scheduled to leave for BC until 7/1/2010. Maybe we could meet up sometime?
A place to talk, ask questions, share story's. When your child leaves for boot camp its a long 8 weeks. We can all be here for each other.

Well the recruiter didn't come out the the house last week, but is scheduled to be come out tomorrow. I have lots of questions for him (all from reading posts on this site). Thank you all for you posts.

- Hi Pat, I am sorry that I haven't replied sooner. I appreciate the advice. We actually spoke to his recruiter yesterday and asked all our questions (at least questions up to this point). One of them was whether or not the Navy would pay for his loans that he current has and will owe when he goes into BC. His recruiter did not have a definitive answer and promised to find out and get back with me. I'll let you know what I find out.
I am definitely more at ease with this after our meeting last night. I feel that we are blessed that he has a good recruiter.

Pat said… - I saw your cooment regarding the Navy repaying student loans. First I don't believe there is an enlistment bonus for the Corpsman rate. Secondly, if your son is told that the Navy will repay his loans, make sure he gets it written into his contract prior to leaving for bootcamp.

- Hi, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my future son-in-law Tim has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What will Gio be doing with the Navy?
