My daughter is on the Sampson which is on deployment with the Nimitz and they have been having some computer problems which means the same could be true for your son.

Profile Information

About me:

My oldest son Brandon is married and lives in Wisconsin (where I am originally from) I now reside in Madison MS, my oldest daughter Trishah has a one year old who is all boy and lives in Mississippi, my youngest daughter Rebekah lives in MS and has a 3 1/2 year old daughter who is wonderful Bekah is also in the Air Force Guard and my youngest son Matthew has a 6 month old and is in the Navy and left the 31st for the Persian Gulf on a 7 month tour. I am very proud of all my kids and support them in everything they do. I work as an Admin Asst in a recycling plant and deal with too many men LOL.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I am still learning since he has only been in the Navy for a couple of years. I will admit I cried when I talked to him before he left on his cruise but thank God for the internet ~ atleast I can send him emails and he promised to get back to me. He has already started putting in requests for cookies. LOL Matt always talked about being an "AF" guy but when the Navy spoke to him in high school he was very excited and they came to my work place to talk to me about him. That impressed me ~ I felt like they were including me in his decision even though it was his alone basically. Matt had a great support system through the Navy throughout his senior year and even when he had some negative feedback from friends (so called friends) they spoke to him straight up, did not make promises that couldn't be made and in the end he made the decision to join. When he graduated basic training (again a boo hoo experience for me) I asked him if this was the right decision and he said "oh yeah it was the right decision" I could tell how proud he was of himself. I teased him that I should go on the cruise with him to cook for him and he told me he kept forgetting to talk to the guy in charge ~ it was an on running joke between us and continues to be. I guess he will just have to get the cookies since I didn't go on the tour. LOL I am very proud of him and of what he is doing. I wouldn't be a mom if I told you I wasn't a little scared but I am trusting the Navy to take care of him just as I would.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

AMEAN

OK this may sound like a stupid question ~ and I know Matt has answered this question for me before ~ does anyone know what the letters AMEAN stand for??? That is Matt's classification. I know there are groups specific to classifications here and I thought I would join one. Thanks for the help all. Sue :)

Hi Sue, jonathan is SK with VAW-117 Wallbangers. I don't know he might know Matt already who knows. Just ask Matt if he knows a Gregory. Jonathan is very easy going, and his way of fun is going to the Mall lol and looking at electronics.............oh yeah and eating good food lol. The ship is huge so unless they are close in range they cant' meet. After two weeks he run into someone he was in A school with..........take care.
