When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it, Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Was learning to let go and watch him transform into a sailor
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

liberty

Any do or don't when you pick up your child for liberty the morning after PIR. I was just thinking are the same 3,000 parents that were at PIR going to also be waiting at the gates to get their child? ;)

2 weeks in

Today makes 2 weeks that Armando is at BC. I can't wait to hear his voice or to even get his first letter home. I was almost doing kart wheels when I received the form letter just because I knew it would have his hand writing on it. He actually wrote quit a bit on those two lines. He… Continue

I think you could take munchies in. I'd put them in your purse.
We drove in to the base. We were there around 6:10AM and got right in, no problems. We had to wait in line about an hour until we got to sit down. The earlier you are, the less you will have to wait. The ones who come later have to stand outside the building and wait.
You will have a great time. I can't wait to see your pictures!

I am not used to being in 30 degree weather so I would rather park on base and wait to get out. You will have your son with you so there will be so much excitement that waiting might not matter to you. My husband has no patience but even he said "We are here for her", but remember we didn't have a long wait with the handicap parking. You could always go to the NEX and buy some Navy memorabilia to waste a little bit of time while the cars thin out also. I don' t know anything about the shuttle (where it drops off or when it picks up) so I don't know if that would be easier or not. Once your son is by your side, none of it really matters at that point. Have fun!!!

I thought they usually did call afterwards. I wonder if you could call out there and find out anything. Ask them if they could tell you if your son is scheduled to PIR this Friday before you make the trip out there. Is there a phone # on the graduation packet info?
They sell water and soda in the hall where the PIR is held.
