- My 21 year old son has always shown signs that one day he would be in the military. Now the time has come. He has a 25 yr old brother who is a nurse. I have 3 step children who are a wonderful addition to my life. I work in the Internet corporate world and love it very much.

- When I heard “Navy,” I:
- Was proud and encouraged it
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- my children s Father was in the Navy and for that it did wonderful things for us. It helped us to purchase homes without having to save a lot of cash on hand as well it taught my husband a great sense of accomplishment and discipline. I am hoping the Navy Experience will bring only positive and adventure to my sons life, as well to help him finish his education.

I hope not because I was looking forward to spending some time with him. I am taking Amtrak from NY and planned on leaving Chicago Sat. pm. It is difficult having so much "up in the air" not knowing how much time we can spend together and if we have to see him at the airport. I have not got a phone call since middle of Jan. Not knowing is the worst!! Hope everyone gets good news very soon. My son said in the letter he would let me know as soon as he found out. So...I guess I can only wait and keep busy!!!

Hi I changed my name from miercaky to jody thought I better tell you so you know who I am. Our son called us yesterday, It was great to hear his voice, sounded a little teary eyed but I bet they all do. Said he will be calling again tomorrow afternoon. I have been writing a list of questions to ask him, I couldn't think of 1 when we were talking to him. lol
This is so weird, to have him in the Navy, just never thought he would go in. hmmmm guess I didn't know he wanted to that bad. I sure hope its a good choice for him, and all of them.

I'm sure it's different for you as with me having your son go rather than the hubby. Mine was in the Navy as well.
In your profile pic it was fantastic to see that your son was so tall. Mine is 6'4 and looks like a football player. After seeing all the kids at MEPS the morning Erik left, I was worried he would be head and shoulders above everyone else and stick out like a sore thumb! Nice to know there are at least 2 tall ones in the same division!

If your profile or profile name contains last name (even if it is different from your rct/sailor)your rct/sailors first name or your e -mail address, I recommend that you change it for the safety of your sailor. Remember, this is a public site and anyone can become a member and read comments posted here.
Be wary of who you friend…before you accept a friend go to their page and see how active they are, the comments left, groups they’ve joined. If they have a lot of friends but no groups, no comments, click ignore and DO NOT FRIEND THEM…it is likely they are spammers, e-mail address harvesting

Join this group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/deppersinbutnotyet read some of the discussions for good info
There is a group for each month rcts leave "Leavin for Boot Camp in (month they leave)" search groups and join this group...it will have info as well as connect you with other N4M's whose rcts leave that month.
Once you get your PIR (Pass In Review=graduation)date…search groups and join the PIR group..if it hasn’t been formed yet YOU may need to form it.
Go to YouTube and search Navy Racks, boot camp, graduaton, Battlestations 21 (CNN does it)
Explore this site as well…Forums, Groups and Videos and check out the “Main” tab…lots of good info
