Hi Donna, thanks for the info on the shuttle. However, we have booked at a hotel 2.96 mile from the base and they provide three shuttle buses to/from graduation. That was our worry just getting to the base that morning.

Hey Mama Nancy, I'm so excited that we're almost there? How are you holding up? I've heard a lot of people are going to Pensacola, but I think my Greg is going to Meridian, MS. Is Jean going to be going to Pensacola?

Mama Nancy, I'm so tired already and I have 2 doubles in a row and then volunteering on Friday and work on Saturday morning. But I'm getting excited b/c they are posting stuff for BS dates and division 244 goes July 9th. So that means Jean will probably go July 8-July 9th. That means we could get our "I'm a sailor" call in exactly 1 week. HOW AMAZING! It also means that by the time Jean gets this money that I'm sending him it will probably be unneccessary. But if so then he can give it back to me at PIR and we can put it towards something that weekend. I made pretty decent money last night. Hope I can do the same tonight and tomorrow night.

You're very welcome! From what I've heard and seen the Navy doesn't mail out the grad pack till basically it's late. That's their way for whatever reason so its best to plan ahead if your recruit is on track to graduate. You must be very excited and proud. Congratulations and be sure to take photos! blessings, Sherry

Yeah I'm a little worried about that. But Jean still didn't mention anything in his letters yet about even having to put names down. That seems important enough that he might have mentioned it in a letter. If you didn't get letters you know Jean isn't not going to send one. Remember they get to write a couple times a week. I did go ahead and ask other girlfriends and moms on Jean's division group if they recieved their grad packs yet. I don't think anyone has yet, but if they did then we can start making some calls and make sure that it is taken care of. Don't worry we aren't going to get all the way up there to not get in. I will fake an emergency call to him if I have to just to talk to him. I really think that no one has recieved them yet though.

Who needs two extra family seats?

We have just realized that we could possible offer two people seats for Graduation. If families are allowed only 4, it will just be myself and my son's fiance attending. Therefore, we might be able to help another family here with two extra seats.

Hotel for July Graduation

My son's fiance' is taking care of our travel plans for graduation Ship 11-Div 243. Does anyone have info on local Hotels that offer shuttle to Graduation. This is my first post on Navymom. I was taken by so many moms in a panic it seemed, as their son/daughters where in the first couple of weeks with zero letters and/or phone calls. Then it hit me, most of them are 18-19 leaving home for the first time. My son left for college at age 17, so I CAN relate. My son Jean gets letters to us each week… Continue
