About me:
My husband I are are parents to five (3 girls, 2 boys) and grandparents to six (1 girl!) Scott, our Sailor, is our youngest. We have been married for 29 years. We live on a small farm and raise cattle and hogs, and grow wheat and feed for the animals. My husband just began farming full time .. quitting his job for the county was one of the best things for his stress level! I work in a small hospital 18 miles away as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Our girls live in Abilene, KS (2 hours away), Minneapolis, MN; St Louis, MO, and the former Marine lives at home .. kinda. Scott is stationed at Pearl Harbor but is currently deployed.

Our older son, Andrew, served in the Marines. He was discharged June 2008 after 4 years that included a 8 month tour (each) to Afgan and Iraq.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
"No news is good news." .. Actually, it's usually REALLY good news when they are deployed.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I asked my son if he knew your son. He doesn't. My son is an STG. What does is your sons job maybe he can find out for you what's going on.

Why do you think your son's truck got towed? I think best bet is to contact ombudsman from his command. If you go to his ship's website, there should be a contact info. They are usually good at getting back with you especially right now because the ship is out.

Let me know if that works out.

Hi Laura, I do not know if I ever responded to your welcome e-mail. Being on a site like this is all new to me. I really appreciated looking at the pictures you posted in Thailand. I wish I could see more. What is it your son does? That is really interesting about your farming. My family is from Ohio and we own elevators in the midwest for farmers to bring their grain. I now live in Florida but I think there is nothing like good ole farm land.

I usually send new socks after they have been out for a couple of months, because they probably need them by now. A pack of new under wear here and there. I have sent home made candy, and yeah it arrives just fine he says. The guys love it. I make candy that doesn't have anything to spoil in it. I always put it in a good container and seal it good. I have actually added a couple of small rozen cold packs to keep it cooler for a few days. You can even send a very soft blanket rolled in a package with things. I also include extra ziplock bags of different sizes to use for sharing snacks, or storing extras. Also adding some fresh dryer sheets in a sealed baggie for them to use in their shoes or beds help! If you send bath products make sure they are in a sealed ziplock bag to prevent everything smelling like their bath products, and also prevent any leakage of any kind. There are sights out there that give you wonderful suggestions of do's and don't. They also can help you come up with some creative things and ways to send...

Hi jlp-where did your son do his C school at? Ours is in Dalgren now for school. How is he liking life at sea? Their school is so long that sometimes I think our son is anxious to get his ship orders but I keep saying...don't rush it, those orders will be here soon enough and you may wish that you were at school! Had a luncheon for the moms in GA today and two of them were FCs moms!

Michelle proud Mom of Luke and Jake who were sworn in Jan 21 and off to basic. Watching both my sons go was such a mix of emotions that it is still confusing to me. Their Dad died 4 years ago from leukemia so this added to my grief in letting them go. He would have been so proud!! Trying to keep busy as I am having a little texting and e-mail withdrawal!!

Hi June. Good to hear form you. I see the 3 of us "Paul Hamilton" moms have hooked up. I have emailed Laura and given her my direct email, You are welcome to email me too... tjcook99@gmail.com I do not have an email for wesley. His computer was stolen the day before they deployed so I havent heard from him. Although he told me before they deployed that they did not "turn the antenna on" everyday...whatever that means. But if you still have not gotten the message to Scott you might contact the Red Cross. I understand they help in getting msgs delivered. Look forward to hearing form you again.
