Pure Pride

What a amazing feeling to be a part of a military family on this eve of veterans day. Heart felt thanks to our veterans and their families, words cant express the gratitude and pride that bubbles up and the tears that flood the eyes as we think of all that has been done in the name of freedom for our sake. May God bless each and every one of them and those who waited and even now wait for their love ones to come home safe and sound. Happy Veterans Day!!!!

Hope you had a wonderful visit with your daughter! Has your son heard anything about Prototype yet. Derrick was excited to tell us that the he was one of 18 MM's picked to start prototype on the 13th. Hope everything is going okay with your sons classes now that he is on the down hillside. Have a Great Day

Hey, jmc18 I haven't been on here for a while. I used to get on daily on my lunch hour at work but my hours have been cut back due to the economy and I don't take a lunch hour any more. I just come home. But it is hard to find the time to get on at home. Too much competition lol! I have spent the last several hours getting caught up and I just finished reading your post. And thought I would give you a little tip incase your sailor hasn't (He may be in a different section and they haven't told them this either.)
My son also grad. Powerschool on Sept. 25, he is am MM and in Section 10. He said they are being told that there is a good chance that they might be put on grad. hold for 3 to 6 months before they get to start Prototype school. They are even encouraging them to take some College Classes while they are waiting. Last Mon. he said that they are asking for volunteers to go on grad hold, which I am sure they won't get to many. My sailor, as well as most of the others, is ready to move on and and get to the fleet ASAP. I told him I understood that but if he was on grad hold he would probably be able to come home for Christmas but if he was in Prototype he probably wouldn't. I know that's probably a little selfish of me but hey I'm a mom I get to be selfish every once in a while. Honestly I have got to see my sailor a lot in the last year. His PIR was 11/07/09, he got to come home for Christmas, he was home in March after A school, and we are going down for his PwrSch grad. and spending about 10 days. I have just left in in the Lord's hand I know his plans are always perfect.
I know that it is not a good thing to hope for for them, but I also think that the Navy is reeling a little here, between the backups from Balston Spa and the influx of enlisted personel do to the eceonomy. Derrick said that this is the largest PWRSCH class that they have ever had and they think they will keep getting bigger. I guess they normally only put around 300 students to a PwrSch class and this one has 400+ in it. Usually about half of them go to Balston Spa for prototype and this time I think he said they are only sending about 20 to Balston Spa out of this class. Just food for thought!
Are you going to the grad? I have skimmed through so much tonight it is hard to keep it all staight.
We have reservations at the villas. Derrick said that they have to be moved out of the barricks by the 25th, so I am hoping that he can spend some time actullay staying with us there during our visit.

Hi Jamie! Steve has told me so much about J. He really misses GC, but knew early on that the Nuke stuff was not for him. The Navy was fantastic about helping him chose a new job, even though the sub volunteer went with him, Steve likes his selction so far.
Steve is in Groton Ct. doing more sub training and then off to who knows where after Christmas for some additional communications training. He is doing ok, but did end up totaling his truck in a pile up. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt. Even after all the jumping A schools, Steve still loves the Navy, and knows he will be in it for the long run. He had to change cell providers so if your J wants the new number, let me know and I will email it.
Take Care
