Didn't know if any of you had heard from you sailor but mine called today. Their email is down so if your emails aren't going through that's why. They are in an amazing place and I can't wait to hear about their adventures there.

Got the type of email that every Mother wants to get when their child is on deployment. "Not much going on here...No news is good news". More than that, no news is GREAT news!! Yep, that is music to a Mother's ears and heart!

Good morning ladies. My daughter called last night and said the ship's store was closed down. They are unable to purchase snacks, cokes, energy drinks all the stuff that in my own personal life keeps me happy and sane. She sent me on a mission tod...

About me:
Working Mother of 3. Been married for 28 years. My daughter joined the Navy after 2 years in college. She is such a girlie girl that we were sure how well she would adapt but she has done great as she prepares for her first deployment on a DDG. My oldest son goes to college and works in a mission. He has a heart for the Lord and a calling to be a missionary. My youngest son is getting ready to enter high school. My husband and I are very active in our church. I play the keyboard on the praise team and we mentor the kids on the youth praise team. I enjoy scrapbooking, love my 4 dogs and spend a lot of time working on my money pit of a house.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The Navy is not for the weak of heart or mind. The Navy has required my daughter to dig deeper than she thought possible to find that she has strength that she didn't know she had. It has taught us all the value of prayer and God's grace. She herself will tell you that she wouldn't have made it through BC if it hadn't been for prayer.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

All Is Well

Sissy emailed yesterday and they had mail call. She said the entire ship was in a great mood because getting mail while on deployment is like having Christmas in September. I sent her a pink tool box with the cutest pink flowered tools (boy! The guys in her department will love that). I love it when she has a good day.

Not Sick @ Sea

PTL!!!! I got an email this morning and she is feeling so much better. They took her to a doctor where they are (not a military dr), they spent the whole day running test and stuff (missed some pretty neat sightseeing). He said it looked like she had passed a kidney stone/stones about 5 days ago and had several more forming. He said her kidneys were sore and stressed that's why she continued to hurt. He gave her some meds to calm the kidneys down and she was already feeling much better. Hopefull… Continue

Still Sick @ Sea

Got an email early this morning and they took her to the carrier, did an ultra sound. She doesn't have gallbladder, she has kidney stones. And people don't believe in Mother's intuition. The first thing I said (4 weeks ago) is, I wonder if she could have a kidney stone. She is suppose to see a Urologist but I haven't heard back from her. I'll keep you posted.

Update on Sick at Sea

I got an email early this morning. She said the Dr. on her ship was going to take her to the surgeon on the carrier as soon as they reached port (they are 14 hours ahead of us). He told her he was going to be really mad if they couldn't find anything wrong with her. She isn't worried, because she knows something is terribly wrong. A person doesn't throw up, run fever and have severe abdominal pain for 4 weeks for no reason at all (Geeze). Anyway since a carrier has a full hospital on it, if it i… Continue

Morgan works on the communications computers, etc. His rate is CTM. My oldest son was sonar tech (mid-80s) on a destroyer. He now has a FANTASTIC job with AT&T, and says the Navy experience is what got him the job. What a GREAT way to spend Thanksgiving...serving others. We're going to several family gatherings, in-laws, out-laws, and almost-laws. It helps to be so busy. Bless you and yours.

So glad your daughter is feeling better. What does she do on the ship? This will be the third set of holidays Morgan has been gone. The first wasn't too bad, b/c we got to go Pensacola to see him. But the year he was in Japan, THAT was hard. The ship's command did everything they could to make the holidays "happy" for them, and that's a relief. Plus, it looks like many, many people are sending stuff to the ship, so they'll know they're not forgotten. I think it's harder on us left at home, sometimes. We're the ones looking at that empty chair... Hope you daughter continues to be healthy, and that you and your family have nice Thanksgiving. Kathy

Hi, I posted a blog last month regarding our sending holiday cheer to the Nimitz Strike Group. If you're still interested in helping, please let me know what you would like to send. Most are sending stockings w/ candy or goodie bags w/ treats from home. Thanks, Pat

I heard from him this morning at 5am. He found out I was at the hospital last night with the ombudsman and wanted to make sure everything was okay. He said email is constantly down and that he is unaware of there next move as it is changing daily and never know what is to come each day. he did say he got his packages and loves everything in them. He has shared with the supply department and any who come to visit. He said he is okay with where they are right now...so that means good things. He is extremely busy and calls every chance he gets even if it is only for 5-10 minutes. I truly love your blog. A few things that you said di hit home with me and made me want to hear from him...I hope I answered any questions. I know I am vague in details...but I am a huge believer in keep our sailors safe. hope you are well.
