Hi kap 1991 I'm just getting to read some more on this site and thank you for your note. This is d giroir responding to your post. We live in Harahan, near Metairie. We were just informed that our son leaves on September 28 for Boot Camp. We are getting "used" to the idea. He is 22.

i talked with her last week in the middle of the week. She is doing great. She is counting down the days till she graduates. Says that the girls look forward to letters. She said that they don't smile alot and only in Private. She is having a hard time learning her chains of commands but other than that thinks it is a breeze. She is the Youngest Recruit there and will celebrate her 18th birthday there on the 31st of July. I recieved a letter from her this week and she is home sick but cant wait to see family at graduation. She is a grad n go so time will be limited for her so we will go to the airport and spend time there with her. she will go to "A" school in Pensecola. I am not sure if your daughter in law gets her eyebrows done but Kayla is the one that has been doing all of the recruit girls eyebrows there with a string! i guess its a new thing they do. Have you heard anything from your sailor lately?

Hi & welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What will your son be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your recruit. Pat
