"I think new rule is you have to have the 4-digit code after the zip. pretty sure I read that somewhere - because usually if the division or box number is not on there - it will still make it to the ship at least - and then the mail room can…"
"momof2sailors - have you or this site been hacked? the link looks very suspicious - seems like family would be working in conjunction w/ Red Cross or a specific hospital would be listed. 150+ units? Isn't that coming out…"

"Please don't share last names of your kids on here. it would take away the challenge we moms share of trying to guess if our kids know each other - because they use last names on the ship and we use first names in here. :-) anyways…"

Hi katlanta, My son is also on the USS GW. I live in NY. I read that you were able to get to Japan, and was wondering how the trip was. I would love to go over to visit in a year or so!! It's a difficult w/e being Mother's Day tomorrow and knowing they are underway! I miss being able to chat with himon FB. Hope you have a great w/e! Julie
Thank you for responding to my email about the GW mailing address. I appreciate your friend request and any info you could provide me. I know with the holidays coming up I want to make sure I get the correct addess and send a few things and make sure he DOES get them before I start sending christmas presents and such.
Our boys were shipmates in BC and Jake is pretty sure he knows John. Of course, they don't go by their first names so he asked me to find out what John's last name is. I know it can't be shared publically so please send me an email to email@example.com. If Jake is right, they were pretty close and he is thrilled that they are stationed on the same boat. He wants to exchange emails with John.
Let me know.
My son Eric is also new to the Navy (PIR 6/26/09) and is a Yeoman. Maybe he will get to know your son, since their jobs are similar and they are both assigned to the GW. I know your son is anxious to get on board and get into the swing of being a sailor. Eric seems to be getting used to it but complains about sleeping on the racks! Anyway, just wanted to say hello and to wish your son good luck.
Hi Katlanta - I know, after posting that I talked to my son and realized that they werent room mates.... however, like you said they may know each other. Robby has only been there a little over a week so is still meeting people everyday! He is on hold for a month so kind of bored...but enjoying in none the less!! It was nice to 'meet' you and I am sure we will run into each other in various chats!!! :)
Good luck to you son w/ his eyes...that would be great if the Navy can correct it and he can change to the job he wants...either way, just having better eyesight will be a huge plus!!!!
My son is in Meridian also, he just arrived there on Sunday from GL. My sons roomate is also from Atlanta....thinking theres a chance it 'may' be your son John. Lets swap info and see!?!?!?! :) I posted some info on the Meridian a-school group! That would be very cool if I found his roomates moms!!!
This is YOUR week! You must be so excited about PIR...you will be in total awe of the event! Congratulations to your new sailor in advance, safe travels to GL and take lots of photos to show off at the picnic. New sailors LOVE getting their photo taken in their dress uniforms...really. They are so proud to make it to that point and to be able to wear that uniform.
