Joyce, I'm so glad he's finally gonna get to start his career! I'm sure you're relieved and he's raring to go! My son Ben started out in Gulfport, but most of his detachment didn't- they went to Little Creek first, then back to Gulfport. Makes it ...

We had a great visit with Ben at Little Creek! The Navy Lodge ($79 a night) was wonderful. We did learn something the hard way though- Ben needed to have applied for a pass for our car up to 2 wks before we arrived. Since he hadn't done that and w...

Profile Information

About me:
I've been married to Mr.Wonderful for 29 yrs, mom to 4 kids, two in the Coast Guard-a son & a daughter, both aviation; and now my second son is a Riverine in the Navy! As of March 7th I now even have a son in law in the Navy! Our third son is 11 and in the 6th gr. We homeschooled them all and have lived to tell about it! I'm here looking for support and friendship with other moms who's children are in the Navy.
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Navy decor is a lot easier to find than Coast Guard decor :-)
There is a lot we need to learn about how the Navy works. There's a lot that's different from the Coast Guard. Never take what you've been told as the gospel truth on first notice, the Navy has a way of changing it's mind at will. They are helping my son grow into the man I always knew he could be!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

A book we all need to read

My Navy son had signed up to military.com before he shipped out for boot camp. He used our home computer so after he left we still got their periodic emails. He would watch all the videos about guns and planes. I would read the articles. There are 3 military wives who have syndicated columns that appear on the site periodically. One is Anita Doberman, stay at home mom to a herd of little kids. Her posts are sometimes humorous, sometimes informative, but always sweet. Another is Sarah Smiley. She… Continue

Working myself out of a job

Our assignment as Mothers is to work ourselves out of a job. If we do our job well, our children will grow up and not need us to mother them anymore. They should still want our company, our council, our friendship, but if we’ve done all we should do as their Mother they shouldn’t need us anymore. They should be able to go out into the world prepared to take care of themselves. They should be educated in how to educate themselves. They should be able to feed themselves, dress themselves, shop for… Continue

hi kim well i havent been on for a while as i moved into bills house and havent had the money to get my computer hooked up to be on line yet. i am here in IL visiting travis at his dads house and got online to check emails and signed on to see who has written me. well two weeks ago my boyfriend, the one in the pic, was killed in a car accident . I cant find the words to describe how lost w/out him i am. he was my world and treated me like gold. i miss him so much i cant breath sometimes. he took care of me and spoiled me and i am having trouble imagineing tomorrow w/out him and part of me wishes i was with him. i was 3 cars behind him when it happened. i was following him home from our camper. trav is going to japan for 2 years then will have the opportunity to apply for buds. i am excited for travis as this will be a wonderful experience. anyway, i will check on here when i can but will let you know when i am back on line again. ttyl becky

aww..that is amazing that he waited for her and that everything worked out :) Miracles are real :) ya..that's understandable.. I wouldn't want to be around that kind of stuff either..I wouldn't like working with guys..they would never grow on me..lol..OMG r u serious..ONLY 5 girls, that would be horrible :( that is so true....I can't stand being here and not knowing where he's at or what he's doing.....Well I might be babysitting but idk yet..He has only been in Guam for this deployment..He is stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI which is almost 5,000 miles away from me....My bf is 20, and I've known him since I was 8..I love him so much and he's just everything I could ever ask for :) ♥♥ My parents absolutely love him too :) I have met amazing ppl on this site too..When i am talking in the conversation they make my day somehow..:) i'm glad I found this site, b/c it helps me to understand that I am not alone and there are actually ppl out there that are willing to talk and that know what you are actually going through:) And you are one of those ppl so thank you!! :)

WOW..that's got to be tough..so she will still be working even if she's pregnant?? that sux majorly..at least she got to spend 5months with him..can't he come home for the delivery??That's how i would feel too..How long were they together before they got married?? I've been with my man for almost 6 months, and it feels like so much longer b/c I've known him since I was 8 and i just know so much about him:) This deployment is going to be so much harder for her..yikes..This is my first deployment so ya..well to be honest I am only 16..Everyone I've talked to so far knows and this website is just awesome with amazing ppl on it..And since school is out for the summer there really isn't much to do except sleep and regular daily stuff..I will most likely get to spend about 13days with him in July so That's something to look forward to....I just try to find stuff to do to keep my occupied, but sometimes what i do isn't enough b/c whatever it is makes me think of him and the memories we made when he was her in February..I miss him and it's hard but i'm making it....
