internet is back!!
pir was wonderful. i am so glad i had the opportunity to see my sister on such a proud day.
i'm actually the big sister not the mom of a new navy sailor, but i worry about my little sister just as much as if i was her mom! my sister left aug 27th for bootcamp and is going to be an advanced electronics technician.she started school last week and is on her way to making me more proud every day!

aside from being a new navy sister i am a native northern californian married and have a four year old son with special needs. so life is pretty busy!

WE GOT A PHONE CALL TODAY!

UNFORTUNATELY I MISSED IT:( BUT SIERRA GOT TO TALK TO MY MOM AND SISTER. THEY SAID SHE SOUNDED MUCH BETTER- MORE UPBEAT AND FEELING BETTER. HER LAST LETTER WAS REALLY DOWN. SHE SOUNDED SICK, AND TIRED, AND DEPRESSED. SO I AM GLAD SHE IS DOING BETTER. SHE ALSO GOT TO CALL HOME AS A REWARD FOR DOING SO WELL ON HER PT TEST AND HER PERSONAL INSPECTION! YAY! I'M JUST GLAD SHE IS SOUNDING LIKE SHE IS DOING BETTER BECAUSE I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT HER.

everytime i get a letter sierra says she is doing fine and "it's not that bad", but that's what she always says so i don't know about that...:)

Hi! I saw you talking in the AECF group about your sister and baby. I hope everything keeps getting better and the baby gets strong and healthy. What is your brother in laws name if you don't mind my asking? We are in Dahlgren now, and it is so small I bet my husband knows him by now or has run into him.

Hi,
Gosh I haven't been on here in quite a while. Seemed like not much to say since they have been in school for SO long and its just been the same 'ol thing day in and day out. Its great to hear from you!
I did relay the info to Eric awhile back that Sierra was getting married and hoping to finish her A school before they made her take maternity leave. He said at that time that he didn't know who she was because they only use last names and I wasn't any help to him there, but he did remember seeing a picture of her on Navy for Moms. Only a week or so after that, he did see her when they were marching out of school, but of course, couldn't say anything to her. Guess he ran into her again! Isn't that fantastic!? I think its so cool that they are from the same town, same age and also ET's.
Eric finished his A school a couple of weeks ago and had his graduation last Friday. He put in for his permanent orders about a week before finishing and they came in the very next day! He has a C school in San Diego and then another C school in Virginia. Permanent duty station is Norfolk, VA, which is exactly what he wanted and his ship is the carrier, USS Truman. He doesn't even start his first C school until October, so he is just stuck in GL even longer. He says its ok because he is working and the pressure of school is off for now.
How are things going with Sierra now that she is a married lady?
Its been so hecka hot here in P'ville! I'm already sick of it, but heard in the news this morning that it will continue this week too.
Well, talk to you later. Stay cool!

Kybessom- The same thing happened with my hubby.. he finished some of radar then they sent him back to whisky. He's about to finish whisky tonight. It took him 5 days to finish. He says radar takes about a month. He did 2 weeks of radar already so he just has to go and finish the second half. 3 more weeks max he says. After he finishes radar he has 3 non-equipment mods that are 1 day mods.

Hope that makes sense. I'm trying to type while he's explaining it to me! =)

It is my stepson, and I am not there yet. His parents and grandparents, an aunt, and his sister are all there now. I am leaving on Tuesday to join them. The Air Force is paying for the hotel right now, but we will look into the Ronald McDonald house when that runs out. Thank you so much for the tip. I hadn't even thought about that. I have a friend who is a chaplain in the Navy who is helping me find other resources, because we are quickly running out of our own resources. Are you in Sacramento?

Thank you so much for the words of wisdom about UC Davis. It is so hard to be in a place where you have no idea about the doctors or the hospital. We have been told that the surgeon there is the best and he is being wonderful to the family, compassionate, caring and patient, so that makes it easier to trust in someone.

Glad to hear we did ok by your sister! We're always here to help, even after a student "leaves the fold". Take care, my best to your sis!
