Congratualations again. Have a safe trip. I hope to hear from you again.
Take care adn God bless,

Congratulations on Erik's pending graduation! He only called twice, I'm sorry to hear that. I know, the phone calls are earned, but it's not an indivual thing, it's the whole Division.
What hotel are you going to stay at?
I'll share some graduation info. If your flying in, the airport there is O'Hara.
You will need a car, everything is far apart.
graduation:
1) Be there around 7:30 (ish) AM. The securtiy line is long. If you drive in, that line is also long and the cars get inspected with the trunk and hood opened.
2)Bring photo ID, camera and tissues
3) Bring a towel for Erik to sit on. The uniforms has to stay spotless. Also becareful with your makeup when hugging him.
4) Bring a blank check. After graduation, Erik will be picking up his Navy pictures. Most if not all the time, our beloved Sailors gives us the honors of paying. Last year price for the small package, cost us $140.
5) Bring some old clothes of Erik's. If he has the time to spend in the hotel, he can be comfortable.
Oh and tell Erik to meet you at the front gate, when you pick him up the next morning.
Your "mother radar" is useless there! HAHA! All the Sailors look the same! HAHA!
Have a safe trip. I hope to still hear from you again.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
Don't panic, this is all normal, and unfortunately, there's no consistency with Boot Camp. In the full 8 weeks of Boot Camp, you'll only receive usualy 3-4 calls. Now the calls are earned. It's a pain in the butt, and us moms are nervous, it makes it worse.
The phone calls are limited and earned. Only that first phone when Erik arrived, that's rountine.
Think of the positive, once he graduates, he gets his freedom back, he can call you all the time! HAHA!
Erik is safe and in good hands . Like I said, he's homesick. Each week will get better for both of you. His letters will become not only uplifting, but he'll be writting in Navy lingo. You'll have no idea what he's writting about!! HAAH! As long as he knows, that's all that matters! HAHAH!
The first few weeks of Boot Camp is rough, it's all new to the recruits. Not only are they doing physcial exercizes, there's classroom work, and learning emergency situations. A whole bunch of things, the recrutis never done before. So it's rough at first, it takes a few weeks of getting into the rountine. When he does call again, I'm sure his attitude and tone in his voice will be much better. But don't panic if he doesn't call in the next two weeks, that could happen. There is no consistency at all. But he will call evenualy.
So you read my exciting news!! HAHA! . I'm on such a high with this. My daughter Kim, the Sailor, she just started having symptoms now, at 6 months, God bless. No morning or night sickness, lucky her.!! HAHA! I was over the toilet most of my three pregnancies!! I don't have a due date yet. Next week she sees the actual GYN. All I know, maybe sometime in January. A belated birthday gift for me! HAAH! My birthday is in December. This is my first grandbaby, so I've been bursting over here! HAHA!
Thank you for Congratulations. This is going to be long 3 months for me now! HAHHA!
Let me get going.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
Errik cried, I feel bad. He's still not into the rountine yet and still homesick. It does take awhile. My daughter Kim wrote the most heart wrenching first letter. I was in tears.
After that, she started getting into the rountine of Boot Camp. After she graduated, she said she loved Boot Camp. Who'd think right?
Probably hearing his brother and sister's voice, it over whelmed him how much he missed them and being home.
Don't be upset, it happens. It just take some time. Boot Camp is rough at first. Aything new is hard. Erik will get used to it and do well with everything he's learning and doing. I'm sure by now, he made a few friends, they bond, since they're always together.
Probably in a week or two, his letters will be more uplifting. He'll be writting in Navy lingo, you'll be wondering what he' s writting about! HAHA!
Let me get going. Again, Please don't hesitate to write. All the moms and myself are here for you.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
How are you doing today?
Erik is doing fine. Like I said , it just takes a while for them to get into the rountine of Boot Camp.
Summer camp is different though. The kids still are homesick, but they're doing fun things there. In Boot Camp it's stricter and more strenuous.
By the time he graduates, he should be more mature.
By the time the recruits do the test Battlestation, they already passed everything else. Battlestation is the hardest test, and the recruits have fun with this one. I've heard that so many times. That test is an all night non-stop action emergency situations. The recrutis already learned everything, it's just all combined now.
Let me get going. Please stay in touch.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
How are you doing today?
You're almost at the half way mark now. Your son is fine and in good hands with the Navy. Your over the worst part of Boot Camp, the unknown withyour son! HAHA!
How was his letter? Many times that first letter could be sad. It takes awhile for the recruits to get into the rountine of Boot Camp, and over being homesick. Once they do, they like Boot Camp, beleive it or not.
Please stay in touch with other Navy moms. I'm always here. Together, we'll help you through Boot Camp....we haven't lost a mom yet! HAHA!
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
How are you? This Navy for moms is such a blessing.
So tell me, is it your son or daughter?
Where are they now in the Navy?
My daughter Kim is in Virginia on the USS Normandy.
I hope to hear from you again.
