About me:
I am the Mother of a soon-to-be U.S. Sailor; he is currently @ RTC; I am the Mother of 3 young daughters as well. I am an RN and the lead singer for a rock cover band. My son left for BC on June 15, 2009 and his PIR is 08/07/09. I miss him so much~I also know he will be a great sailor and a great man!
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
How you need to stay informed and that it hurts to let your child go, even when it is the right decision. The hardest part is the 'hurry up and wait' and the constant wondering if they are doing well and are succeeding on a day-to-day basis.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

SEVEN (7) COUNT THEM!!! SEVEN MORE DAYS TILL WE SEE OUR BOYS!!!

Posted on July 31, 2009 at 3:30am 0 Comments

BOO YAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe we have ONE week until we see our Sailors! They are going to be Sailors!! Wow! I am sooo way proud and sooo way excited to see him come marching into that hall in his dress uniform, carrying that flag! I am going to cry through the whole thing and I don't care who sees me! My husband will probably make fun of my raccoon eyes when my mascara is running down my face; but I don't care! :0)

I can't wait to see my daughter's faces light up when they… Continue

It seemed like this day would never arrive and here we are...wow...still can't believe we are this close. 25 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!

Posted on July 14, 2009 at 12:14pm 2 Comments

Wow!! I can't believe that I am down to just 25 days until I see my son again! I am getting excited; but, still counting weeks and not days yet! :) Last time I spoke with him he was doing fabulous; so, I am hoping it is still the same! He sounded like my son and yet, there was such a different type of maturity in his words!

When I look at the 'newbies' posts now it seems like it was so long ago that I was waiting for just a form letter or that first call but it was just a little more time… Continue

Wow~I was looking at another N4M's post and she started this great discussion about the Adopt-A-Sailor Project. I don't know about you guys but if I can't do for my son, I will do for someone else's! Besides,it makes me feel like I am active, busy and doing something when I have the least control over my own...hahahah

Anyway, what a great way to give back to our military! I chose two names tonight and even though it is 11pm I am on my way to Wal-Mart to find some things to send to sailors… Continue

WEEK THREE AT BASIC TRAINING

Posted on July 5, 2009 at 8:48pm 2 Comments

Just some info. I got from Navy For Dads...kinda cool to know what they are doing this week!

Week 3.

Reality check: This week, you’ll board a land-bound training ship. Everything will be hands-on — something your Recruiter told you the Navy is big on. Here’s the proof. You’ll learn everything from ship nomenclature to first aid techniques to semaphore (signaling with flags). All the real-world lessons you’ll need to survive in the Navy world. Classroom studies will focus on… Continue

Leann, do not be alarmed by this. My son is graduating corpsman school on the 2nd but after that first week pretty much the same thing happened to us. They are horribly busy studying for tests. They cannot fail!!! The are basically getting the same training that LVN's get in 2 years of school in 14 qweeks so there is no time for calls and emails etc. I had a hard time with this but it does get better!! Corpsman school is not eas and my son said it was harder than boot camp because you have a higher set of standards and expections to meet. Your son will be learning how to save a life and he will be awesome at it!! He will also be the most respected person in the Navy and Marines!! So just hang in there it will get better once he figures out study schedules and routine for the next 14 wqeeks. If you ever need to talk please feel free to contact me. Have a Blessed day and hang in there sweetie!!

Hey lil mama, hearing your voice yesterday and what you had to say ranked right up there with hearing Josh's voice. Its so hard as moms being stuck out here in limbo not knowing exactly what is going on with our kids, and not being able to help or support them (except through letters). I could not be HAPPIER that things worked out for you and you son, I was praying like crazy for both of you. I just want you to know that I'm here for you, I've got your back sister...and yes...like it or not I think you will be my friend for life...lol. I can't wait to meet both you and your son, we are over halfway there you know...26 days!!! Love you mama, BIG HUGS to you! <3

Hello,
Can you tell me how I can join your group. I am so confused on some of this stuff. :)

Also I too received a call from my son Gary today. My youngest son and I were taking a bike ride when he called. I saw the area code and I knew! I was so happy. I think I asked a millon questions then realized I needed to let him speak ( Smile ) But we talked for almost 30 mins. Then my cell was going to die and I was so worried since I was no where near a charger but it held out until the call was over. He said he had to go buy some things. Said they were doing realy good. Had some drop out though.
I was very excited to get the call. Just right before that I had emailed my husband after the mailman came and told him I was upset that no letter yet. but that was better than a letter today :) Can't wait till Grad.

WOW i cant believe that she would do something like that to him while he is where he is at! Does she just not want to be with him or what? I hope that she can be civil towards him and tell him nice things just to get him throught this tought time! I actually got a call from Josh today so Maybe Colby called youtoo! he told me they get a 20 min phone call every 2 weeks he split up the time between me and Jenn which was totally fine with me! even if he called me for 4 minutes and she got the other 16 id be cool with it! Did you get a call today?

hI .Yes my son is in Div 274 Ship 10.
His name is Gary.
I have not received a call yet and 1 short letter the first week and then the form letter and that is it.
A letter came yesterday from him but it was for his friend.
I keep all the phones with me so worried we will miss his call. We missed the one they made on the first Sunday they were there.
And I run to check the mail as soon as I see the mail man.
Just would like to hear how they are doing. : )
Yes his PIR date is Aug 7th also.
Very excited.
