Hey, I just heard from another recruit's mom (NOT in our division) that her son called her today and he said EVERY recruit got to write letters on Thanksgiving.

- That is also my hope letter tomorrow and a call thur. We were not going to do much for thanksgiving because we had a big family Thanksgiving before he left, but decided we have a lot to be thankful for so doing dinner all over again. Found a neat red white and blue candle at miejers today so that will be on the table to honor and remember Adam. my husband decorated one of your trees in our yard with all red white and blue christmas lights today also. after hearing of lots of kids being sent home maybe no news is good news. THEY ARE DOING GREAT

- Miles has written two letters home. He said they only get about 20 to 30 mins. on Sunday to write. You can look for letters on Wed. That is how long it takes to get a letter from Great Lakes to Hendersonville. Miles also called today!! I was so glad to hear his voice. He said he got to call early and have more time because he scored well on the first of 3 written tests they have to complete. He was ask to help some guys that did not pass the test and this gave him more phone time. :-) He told me there is a Christmas pass program that if a recruit has a family member that comes to see them on Christmas day they get to spend time with them. Not sure if they get to leave the base but since Miles will be graduating 4 days after Christmas, we are not going. So I thought I would give you that heads up. My husband said if I wanted to leave on Christmas AM fly up for the day then fly back the next that he would drive me to the airport. But again with Miles finishing only 4 days after Christmas I think it is a waste of time and Money.

Jake will get the chance to call home after three weeks.
Miles passed the swim part of the test but missed the PT run by only 33 secs. They get several chances to take it. Miles said it is like running in a heard and if you get behind a slow person you are stuck. Hope you get a letter very soon. BTW I did not get a letter the first Sunday Miles left for BC. It did not come till the second week AFTER PT days.

- Keep checking maybe you will still get a letter this week. I hope when you do Jake sounds as good as Adam did. Him sounding alright made me feel a lot better. He also said time is passing quick he could not believe they had been there a week and a half. Take care and try to keep a smile. you will soon hear from him.

- Did get a letter from Adam today a short one page note. written on Sunday. said he was having fun and they were still processing in and would work with a dive motivator on monday. said he has meant alot of cool people. and the food was really good. Sloppy hand writing but said he was sitting on the floor. Passed his first pst on Tues so was happy about that. Said they have not done to much yet

- Has your son ever been diving before? A family friend that is on the sheriffs dive team took Adam up to our high school pool a couple of times to teach him the basics. Adam is very comfortable in the water as he was a four year letter winner on the high school swim and dive team. He did more spring board diving then swimming, but really likes the water
