Three years away

Looking back at my previous blogs and missing my daughter then at boot camp.  It sounds silly she's been in over three years now and all of it over sea's on the USS Tortuga stationed out of Sasebo Japan.   With the Tsunami relief efforts and Korea acting up its been a long three years for her and us and the cost of coming home only made it possible for her to come here this last year for a two week stay (2500.00) .   Sure we skype and stuff when she is in port but thats not often.  Im so…See More

Choosing Haze Grey and Underway

Posted on July 11, 2009 at 11:15pm 0 Comments

It has been years since I put on my garrison cap that first day at bootcamp it fact with the lack of sleep that whole week of bootcamp was kind of fuzzy. I do remember the ambulance always parked outside of the chow hall and the advice of our older sister company not to eat anything that wasnt wrapped from the outside world aka the peanut butter and such.

Today my daughter states that the chow is so good even she (miss metabolism) is gonna cut back because they are gaining weight. The… Continue

Got a phone call today

finally got a call today just a short blip with her mouth numb from a trip to the dentist. Said she is doing ok had to do some it for her blanket and rack (geez by the looks of her room here I can see that lol) The time is going fast for her but she does like it. The Chief sent her to call I had called the information line to find out if I really had the right address and what happened to the grad packs we were suppose to get. Well I now have the right addy and she is for sure graduation the… Continue

Another day No News

Rushed home from work (well went faster than I would have normally) to check post office and nope no news. Im beginning to wonder if they are having a hard time weening her off from her addictions to My Space, Face book and email lol I know she can write because she was very prolific on these sites. Its still wearing on a mom not hearing anything for two weeks. If I remember correctly they made sure we wrote at least once a week while I was in bootcamp. They didnt want worried parents… Continue

2nd week of bootcamp

Posted on June 26, 2009 at 2:11am 1 Comment

Well week two is now on its last legs. Still no letter from Maeghen or the navy wondering if she fell into the void but I received an email from another mother and she was wondering the samething. So Im resonable sure that she is not alone in the void. I know what could be happening to her by the videos and other's experiences but it sure would be nice to at least get a line from her. I remember in bootcamp we had an hour every night to write and it was highly recommended we did lol and I… Continue

Well thank you very much! We will be on the road too that day. I am really hoping to meet you and yours also. My co-workers are telling me I've got my head in the clouds and on vacation. Unfortunately they're right .. I'm probably not much good right now. Haha. I can't believe that this week is already 1/2 way over! Woooo hooooo.

Hey. I was just thinking about you and hoping you're doing well. I saw that you said your daughter is sick. That means that mine is sick most likely as well. I think they just keep passing that "crud" back and forth to each other. Must make them extra miserable on top of everything else. Well I've just finished finalizing hotels and such. We've decided to change hotels (for like the 3rd time) in Chicago. I think this time the decision is final. lol. I am looking forward to some cooler weather. It's been horribly hot down here. Hopefully it'll be nice in the evenings at least. It will be a nice break. Well I'll talk to you later. Take care.

Oh .. I am so sorry to her about her grandma. I understand what you mean about that she would want her to continue. This must just be such a difficult time for you too. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am glad that you will be able to make it to PIR. This trip to Chicago from Florida will also be my two week vacation so I am doubly excited. We'll be on the road for close to three weeks before we make it back south. I really need this vacation. I'm hoping you'll be able to make a stop at Flanigans, but with the long drive you have you all will probably be exhausted.

So do you all have any special plans for after graduation? From what Shelby has been saying she will probably just want to kind of relax. We aren't sure about going in to the city yet, but we might. I guess we'll find out when we get up there. lol I am very happy that today is Friday because that means one more week closer. Hard to believe it's only two and 1/2 weeks away. Can't wait for the call after Battle Stations.

Well you take care and again you are in my prayers.
