Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
patience and learning to be knowledgable about each process of this journey. Thankful we had a informed and truly a truthful recruiter whom I respect and thank him for that.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi, Marie-
Hope all is well with you! How is your son doing? I pray for them all every day!! Brandon is doing well...still hanging out in MS, school hasn't begun yet, and he really doesn't know when it may start. You know how all of this is!! I'm hoping to make a trip down to see him, just not sure when that can be, I have quite a busy month this month, hopefully will make it down there in August. Seem to be having a "mom" day today, feeling a little down today and not a good place to be having it..at work. But, as you know, they do get somewhat better, and he's texting me thru this one, so that helps. Please take care and I hope to talk to you soon.

Marie-
I hope you are doing well..my every thought is with you, can't imagine how hard this must be!! I have gotten your messages, and I will email my number to you!! Brandon is now in Mississippi, learning the hurry-up-and-wait thing. He may not be starting school for another month or so, and coming from the Chicago area, doesn't appreciate the southern weather (or bugs..haha). I just got a text from him that he wants me to come there asap for a visit, so I will be taking time off of work for a trip down. I hate being away from him, but certainly glad that I can now speak to him daily. He calls every night, and if I'm on shift, calls me at work....really makes my day!! Never knew how hard this would be and still really struggling..thanks so much for your friendship, and know you can always count on me as well!!
Marie, thank you for your kind condolences. My son's a sonar tech on the USS New Hampshire (Virginia class sub). He's out now and was not able to come home for the funeral.
Marie, I'm a western Mass. mom, too (Monson). I have 3 grown children; the oldest is the one in the Navy. He went in at age 29 with an wife and two school-age children after he got laid off just before Christmas 2006. Although we tried to talk him out of enlisting, he's doing well and is quite happy being a submariner. My daughter is a civil engineer and new mom. Dylan was born May 4. She and her husband live in Chicopee. My youngest son works for Coca-Cola in N'hmptn. Quite a commute from Monson. He has a wife who's an R.N. and 4 step-children.
Hi Marie,
I have not received a telephone call from my son yet but I did get a letter from him yesterday. Today is the first day of his 3rd week. His PIR is scheduled for July 24th and CANNOT wait to see him. Feels like he has been gone forever. I am patiently waiting to hear his voice......
Hi, Marie-
Just talked to Bran..it was so great to hear his voice again!! His little brother and sister talked with him too..it breaks my heart to see how much they miss him, but we have only until Friday to see him..FINALLY!! Thanks for sharing your feelings with me, it's so good to know that I'm not losing my mind, and to feel lost somedays is normal..for us!! We are going up to Waukegan on Thurs. night after my younger son has his 8th grade recognition night at school, so we can be up bright and early on Fri!! Bran requested a steak dinner, so we'll find a good place in the area to make sure he gets that..haha!! I know you understand how hard this has been, and I also know that it sometimes will be just as bad, but I'm holding onto the fact that I will get to see him soon, and proud to know of the awesome young man he is becoming!! I am keeping your # with me, as I'm sure that I will need a shoulder soon...after Sunday!! Thanks so much!!
Thanks. I will definatley need help through this. Ricky called about 1:00 a.m. and said he was there and it would be about 3 weeks or so before he could call again. It's just really hard. I miss him so much and he has only been gone a day. I have a long time to go.
