"Joann, if there wasn't any typos we wouldn't believe it was you doing the typing! :)
Niko called the other night from the ships phone. I'm guessing they were close to shore or a port. He sounded really good, said work was…"
"Yep, theft is rampant in the Navy especially underway. Niko had underwear stolen on his last ship, his dress blues, and an I Pod. What got me was his dress blues. He's only 5'7" and a 28" waist so not many…"
"We did that for Nicholas when he left Hawaii. I felt a little better following him out to Norfolk.
Janna- I'm glad he will not be going out on deployment so soon after getting married which is what happened to me. We got married in…"
"cherylhubb- I can't tell you anything about the Chaffee but I can give you some info on Pearl Harbor/Hickham. Honolulu is great but he needs to make sure that when he goes out in town, he goes with a group. The base is big but there…"
"Thanks, ladies for the support. I know you all know how hard the deployment thing is but I do feel much better this time and Nicholas had a much different outlook on leaving as well. He was much better prepared and his new ship is better…"
"Glad to have FINALLY found this group. My son is on the Gonzales as of 11/15/12 and since that ship doesn't have their own separate group, I hope I can meet other Gonzales moms and gain info here. My son is a CS3 and has been in the…"
"Glad to see that everyone is posting! Now, where is Sylvia?????
JoAnn- conrats on the hysto but boo for hot flashes. Hopefully, that will go away soon. Blessings to Charlie on his marriage. I hope that this will work out for…"
"Ladies, I think since several of us will be going through the same deployment together maybe we can have our own support group here on the CS moms site which will be smaller and pertains more to our sailors job."
"Johanna....Paradis??? Is that Greek? The reason I ask is that we are Greek (CS3 Nicholas "Niko" Maroudas). One of the bright spots in this deployment for my son is that they may go to Greece and he'll be able to…"
"Like Johanna, I'm one of the "older" moms. My son is a 3rd class on the USS Gonzales which is a destroyer attached to the Truman carrier group. They are also out for another week on sea trials to get ready for the…"
"It does happen a lot more than we are aware of. So much stress put on these young men and women, long deployments, back to back deployments, PTSD, transitioning back in to the civilian world with little or no preparation, backed up VA…"

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
self control, reliance, team work.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
My son's friend is being separated from the Navy for a similar diagnosis as your son. Please let me know what other resources are available to him so he can fight to stay in. Thanks for your help. I sent you a friend request so we could do private messages about his situation.
Hi, I found you from the Ship 5 group...I will send you a friend request since my profile is set to private...Anyway my daughter just called yesterday & said she is being medically discharged due to ovarian cysts..she had this problem in the past...Just wondering if it is worth getting a 2nd opinion??? She is in week 4 of bootcamp. Any advice or direction you can offer would be extremely helpful! Thank so much....I'm just not ready to join Ship 5 group, yet!!! Or give up on her dream :)
Mike finally texted me. Lol....He'd rather text me details than call! I didn't want to post anything about the suicide because others read it, but here's what he had heard. The suicide happened next to their building. The guy apparently used his boot shoe laces and hung himself in the bathroom shower. First thing I thought of was that scene from the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman". Shannong had mentioned that her dtr had said something about drugs, but how can a kid get into the navy with all the drug screening before and during bootcamp?? Oh well....either way it's so sad. The reason I was overly concerned was our boy told us that during laser shooting practice some kid had said he was considering suicide. Weeks later during one of our son's standing watch shift the police came and he had to announce over the intercom for all watch to turnover their pretend ( but VERY real looking)weapons due to police were coming in. Guess that kid was asmoed back a week according to what he heard. So hope THAT kid doesn't go forward to any of the A schools!!! Sad and very scary.
hi you don't know me but my son is being separated in very similar situation as mine please comment me back I am adding you as friend since I am set to private!!! I NEED HELP!!! MY SON WANTS TO STAY WITH HIS SHIPMATES AND HE IS CRUSHED!!!!!
