Profile Information

About me:
My name is Kat and my Son Jake joined the Navy in March 2009 as a Corpsman. Since then, he PIR on May 15th 2009, has gone through A School, FMTB, Beaufort SC and then on to Camp Pendleton. He is preparing for his first deployment. Jake has 3 brother's Rob, Zack and Ben and my heart is CJ! We are the only two left at home...well there is our other children, Taj, Jo and Carolina Blu! Our 3 furry children! Jake will be moving in December, most likely to San Diego or so he is being told. I know that when he moves he will be attached to a Marine Division. We are very proud of our son, but we need to surround ourselves by the Mom's who are or who have been where we are.

From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
How amazing the journey is and what a wonderful and brave man my Son has become! I am so proud of him! To hear him talk is so wonderful because he is so knowledgable in his field and it always makes you feel good when you know that he is ready to take on any task that the Lord has for him! He is my Hero and the Navy gave us that! Bravo Zulo My Son!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I received my 2 first letter together on Thursday, April 9th I think I actually danced from the mailbox to the house! I would have read them in the driveway if the kiddos hadn't been running amuck in the house! When I read them the first time, I was crying so I know I missing the letter. Today I went out to run some errands and when I came home "The Box" was sitting in my carport! I just looked at it for a few minutes and then I realized that part of my son was in there and I couldn't open it fast enough! Yay!!! It has been 2 days and I wasn't expecting it until at least Monday, but his recruiter called me today with it! I had 2 letters all ready to mail and when the address came, my other son wrote as well!

Hey Kat, Thanks for the note. James is up there finally. He flew out Tues. I waited up but never got the "I'm here" call. Later some of the ladies on this site told me that sometimes that happens. Now I am just waiting for the box. How is Jake and how are you? This hasn't been too hard so far. I think he hasn't been gone long enough for it to sink in yet. I went to P'vill last night to go grocery shopping and I did notice that I kept reaching for things and then thinking "Oh, he isn't here. I don't need to buy that." Pretty funny how little things are different. Thanks for checking in. Nice to know I have someone close by to ask questions of.

I am pretty good. Thanks for asking. How is Jake doing? James has gone to P'ville to see the recruiter today. He will be going to MEPS next Monday.
We are planning a party for him at the fellowship meal after church this Sunday. I will put a photo or two of it on my page next week.
I have been tough so far. Haven't boo-hoo'd yet but almost did when I was going through old photos of James as I was making a poster for his party. Really made me realize that my baby boy was grown up and leaving. Nice to know you have been through this. You are very sweet to be there for me. :)

Wow!! What are the odds of that? Maybe if you had been with him I would have been for sure. That teaches me to worry about looking goofy. If that kind of situation comes up again I will just ask anyway.
James only has two weeks left. Tell me that I won't go crazy before he leaves. I find myself worrying that something will happen to him before he goes. Kinda like when they first start school you feel like you have to be there to buffer any and all things that may happen. Oh well, I guess time to let him grow up huh?

Hello Kat. I have a goofy question. Could I have seen your son in Walmart in Selma last Wednesday? I don't personally know him but there was a young man in line ahead of me that looked alot like the pictures of your son. I amost asked him if his name was Jake but then I thought the odds were slim and he would think I was a nut.
I told my James the story and he said that maybe he was home. If that was him and I didn't speak I feel like a potato head.
