if you want closest, I would say Providence Rhode Island or White Plains. As far as the "big" airports, I would say Laguardia.

Thank you Karen for your kind words, I am looking forward to "diving" into this part of the process. Kyle has always wanted to join the military and frankly it has always scared me silly (understatement). Last December Kyle joined the delayed entry program so he could take another semester of college before bootcamp, so we have had some time to adjust. He wants to be a sub-mariner. Watching him over the last 9 months, I have become pleased and quite happy at the peace he feels that this is the right place for him. Now, I just want to see him transition successfull, so I guess fear has turned to nerves. I do think it is a wonderful opportunity and builds great skills and character, so I have grown from total fear to excitement and pride over the past year. I think we (my husband and I) are ready, we have our daughter getting married in August, then Kyle leaving Sept 1st. Needless to say the wedding planning has been helpful to move the time along and compensate for any anxiety!
The net of it is I have always respected and ADMIRED those who serve and now my son will be one of them, which is a great thing. It will also be wonderful getting to know others with Navy children, so here we go!

Hi Michele, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my son Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz.. What will your son/daughter be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your recruit. Pat
