Hi Cheryl What are your plans for retirement? I just took an early retirement too this past June. Im trying to make up for lost time with my grandchildren and working on landscaping my yard.

Tomorrow is my son's 24th birthday!!!!! Wishing I could be there with him. Hopefully he will email me so that I can at least communicate this way.

- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- I am very proud of my son. He joined this year and was sent on his way to Great Lakes,Ill on 2-3-09 and has graduated. I was in awe to see the formal ceremony and it was a very emotional day to see my son playing in the band and in his uniform. He is currently stationed on the USS Truman and is out at sea for several weeks. He will be deployed to the Persian Gulf in the fall and this concerns me. I have faith and know that he is cared for in the military. However he is missed very much.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Yes I was talking about the Renn faire down near Conroe. We're thinking of going Thanksgiving weekend which is their Celtic Christmas weekend. We go in garb (costume) when we go. I have to make new stuff this time. Everyone wants to wear something new.
Elgin is said to be 26 miles east of Austin on Hwy 290. I live between Elgin and Bastrop off FM 969. We always say it is 45 mins to Austin.
My DIL is living in Norfolk were my son is stationed.

- Deployments, not including short cruises for sea trials, are about 6 to 8 months. The ships will not return when deployed if there is a threat such as the one that is currently being made about N Korea planning to to launch a missile at Hawaii. If anything, ships are on on call status & will continue as planned. My son's ship will deploy soon as scheduled. Unfortunatey, they are in the military & this is their job to serve & protect.

My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy since July 2007 and is an IT3 & my son Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz.. What is your son doing with the Navy?
