Becky,
Hi my son Mike is leaving on August 17th, 2010, I am so glad that I have some time with him but I know that time is going to come so quick. What day is Jake leaving?
Does your life have the Navy in its future. Is your child dreaming of a amazing career as a Sailor.
Here is a place to chat, share, cry, learn or just whatever.
I just want to say that I sat here for hours watching this and I cried, I laughed and felt so much pride while watching this. My son was just sworn in and he will not ship out to BC til August 17th 2010 because he is in the DEP, Mike will be an AO...

Your son will be told to list 4 people by name (not including kids 12 under) and only those 4 will be officially allowed into the PIR. Any extras will have to take their chances and hope there's room for them after everyone else is seated.
I too had the same question, but in our situation we have four children that we will be taking with us to our son's PIR in October. After going through the website on the form letter, I still did not have an answer so I called the Public Affairs O...
I am not sure if this is correct or not but I read that only four people are allowed to go to graduation, does anyone know if this is true? I have four sons, one of which is going to BC in August of 2010 but there is so much family that want to go...
Amya,
My son will be 18 in January and he is in the DEP, he is finishing out his senior year and will go to BC August 17, 2010, he was sworn in yesterday, also he took the pre ASVAB and scored high so they were looking at him going in as an E3 int...
I read one of your comments, and would like you to e-mail me with any questions. My son has been in for over 2 years and just got back from a 6 month deployment. So I have been down the road you are about to go down. It has it's up and down so just hold on!!!
hey there,
my son Brandon left for BC on August 25th, its been a week and im actually doing ok...got the box and his PIR letter, made reservations for the hotel so that is making it alot better. His PIR is 10/16/09 so im excited to finally see him after all these weeks. As for your son being sworn in and going in 2010...enjoy every minute of it and dont dwell on it. I looked at it as it was such a great opportunity and he will be learning so much more than his father or I could ever teach him. He will have a future after this...=)
Being the only girl in the house of course has its ups and downs...lol. Yes he left on the 25th and got my short call with all the info ...no calls for 3-4 weeks and he can start writing in 7-10 days. We went to the hotel on monday to spend every last minute we could with him and then went to MEPS the following morning. Although we sat around for many hours it was well worth it. Was able to see him take the oath and to see him get on the van to go to the airport. I was holding it all together until he was getting in and then it all hit me...but i kept telling myself this is a great opportunity and told him that im so proud of him. My son signed and was in the DEP since Oct 2008, so we had plenty of time to prepare ourselves for him leaving, basically let him do whatever he wanted this past summer and had a weekend long party for him with his friends. Not looking forward to the "box without a kid" but we will see, and also not looking forward to packing his stuff to take on our journey when he graduates bootcamp in October(crosses fingers). Hopefully the other 3 will keep me busy and make the 8 weeks go by that much faster...
