Alan, if you're worried about whether or not your particular religion is represented in the Navy by Chaplains, don't. One of my best friends is a Methodist minister and a Chaplain, unfortunately he is off to Okinawa. I'm glad that you are strong in your faith, it will help you get through BC and make you a better Sailor, and even if there is not a Methodist Service at BC the Protestant services are numerous and I'm sure you'll find one that will meet your needs.

Hey there, and I hope you follow your heart and do what you believe in! My son joined the navy almost 2 years ago for several reasons, but he hasn't looked back. It is a great opportunity, and the community of friends and "family" that can be gained is endless.
I somehow feel a connection to you already as a navy mom. My husband was raised in Harpursville, NY and my in-laws still live in Port Crane and Kattleville...small world isn't it. We have been back to that area many, many times over the years!!
Stay tuned to this N4M site, the moms and dads too, are awesome and full of helpful information. Keep in touch- maybe see you next time we are out east! Jody

Hello outma,,, good to talk to you in chat... Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings.

The Groups tab above will let you see all the different groups available. Just like the friends in the left column of the screen you will have groups once you join them. Same with the forums tab above, which is where the site Misty recommended is located.
Karen below would be a really good resource just as she offered...all three of her sons are serving.
Like we have all said...this is a support site...we are here for one another.
