Profile Information

About me:
Hey. My name is Angel. I'm 20-years old. I joined at 17. I know a lot about the Nuclear field. I'm no longer a Nuke, due to medical complications. Due to said medical problems, I was discharged in Nov. My husband and I met while we were both Nukes. He is now attempting to re-rate as a corpsman, and/or become a medical officer (which he couldn't do if I stayed in the Navy). I love the Navy, I'm from a military family (both of my brothers have either served, or still serve in the Navy). I grew up dreaming of when I was finally old enough to join. Unfortunately, the Navy is not what's best for me, but it is for my husband. We still haven't figured out why, but for some reason being in the Navy made me physically sick to the point that I'm being forced to get out (mixed feelings about that, but that's to be expected). I'll be completely honest, some ppl thrive on the Navy, some ppl do good and improve cuz of the Navy (but may not love it so much they thrive on it), and some ppl... it's just not for... regardless, EVERYONE learns something from it. I know I've learned a lot from the Navy, and made a lot of friends in the Navy. And even though some of my doctors think I'd have been better off if I hadn't joined, I'd rather be sick and know my husband and all my friends I've made in the past 3 years, then be perfectly healthy, and not know any of them. So all in all, joining the Navy has been a mostly good thing for me. One of my brothers is different, he won't tell you anything but negative about the military, but everyone is different. Don't let someone else's bad experiences, ruin your navy experience.

Basically, one of my good friends Shelli, used to ask me any of the questions on here that she couldn't answer, so I decided I might as well join so there's one more person here with 1st hand experience. If I take a long time responding to any messages, please understand I'm working all day, spending what little time i get with my husband and dog, as well as planning my formal wedding. Sorry moms, but this is fairly common practice in the navy, or at least seems to be. I've been married for almost a year, and can't imagine life without Mike. We couldn't get leave so we just had a simple courthouse marriage, but like many others, we're planning to have a formal one for all of our family and friends. I know that can sometimes be hard, both of our families were a bit upset that we eloped, but are happy that they'll get to go to a formal one.

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Don't ignore the advise from others, most of the time... their right. learn who to take advise from, and who not to. and don't tell them off.

Don't let someone else's bad experiences, ruin your navy experience.

Don't ever think even for one second... that your invincible... your not the one that pays for that thought... your friends and family do...

It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

This is one of my friends. He went missing in the Hudson River on Sunday (28June) around 1600. The police found his body around 8am this morning (2July). He was a nuclear MM, and only 20 yrs old. Life of the party, and already greatly missed.
