Teresa, my son was told he will be there for 2 years. He finishes MA school right before Thanksgiving and we're hoping he gets to come home on leave before heading for Guam!
Hi Teresa! My son is also heading to Guam in December! He's pretty excited about it. Seems pretty far away but I guess it could be lots worse :-)

Hi guys! Justin will be finishing MA school right before Thanksgiving and then heading to Guam for 2 years. He seems okay with it, I guess it's supposed to have great beaches! Not sure if he will get to come home for either Thanksgiving or Christm...
Pam, he will be finishing A School right before Thanksgiving and planning to use up his leave after that. He doesn't know yet where he will be sent or if he would be able to get leave for Christmas, so figured it was better to go for the sure thin...
My son made it through the OC yesterday too... he said it literally feels like your face is on fire!! Yuck! I guess they took lots of pictures...
Hoping to get my sailor home for Thanksgiving, even if we have to have it a day late... he's supposed to graduate A School the day before! Will sure miss him for Christmas though :-(
My son is set to graduate from MA school Nov. 25. So glad he finally got started, he had a long wait at Great Lakes after PIR! Anyone in the same class heard whether they are doing OC spray on Friday or Monday?
My son finally arrived at his A School last night. Yay! He said the food is way better :-)
We got our dvd and the cruise book yesterday.
That's terrible... I hope you celebrate right when he finally gets it!! :-)

He is supposed to go to San Antonio for MA school. Hopefully it won't be long!
Yes, my son is also still in Great Lakes on hold. He has not gotten to the bored point yet I don't think, especially now that he can wear civilian clothes and has his cell phone!

Becky said… - Hi, My son is also and MA and is heading to Guam in January. He is in Mississippi doing training right now and will take leave here at home before going to Guam. He has been in the Navy for 3 years and was stationed in Washington state the first 3 years.

- I just text messaged my son to find out if he can "legally" give Justin a ride home. He's coming Friday night and going back Sunday. At any rate, I'll send you his phone number for Justin to call. They can meet at the mall or the NEX without anyone getting in trouble, I know.

- Where's Justin? Is he still at GL or did he get to Texas? If he's still at GL and "legal" he might be able to get a ride home this weekend with my son if he gets to come. He's on funeral duty, so he never knows. He's been trying to get home for three weeks!

- Vinson is one of my adopted sailor sons! I really miss him here. My son was recruited in Moline, but I became the Navy mom for both offices. We definitely have to get together sometime.

- Ohh, you're so lucky to live so close to RTC. Actually, I'd love to live somewhere where it's cooler......I have a difficult time with this heat. I've always lived here but it seems it keeps getting more hot each year. I avoid going outside when it's like this. I loved being in the snow when we were there in January 2008! Pretty day today, huh? Yay, I look forward to it!
