Hey Wendyloo, My family flew into Milwaukee for PIR. I'm told it was a very manageable airport and was a 45min drive into GL. It was also cheaper than the Chicago airports. When are you visiting? I'll be there in late October to see Ashley :) CAN"...

Haha. There's no way you could pass up Oprah. =) I hear the weather's going to be rainy and nasty this weekend so we'll probably just shop and spend time in the hotel giggling and laughing and watching chick flicks. Truthfully that's ok by me. I leave at 1:40 pm so I'm going to be completely useless at work in the morning. lol I'll post a few pics when I get back. Take care and have a great weekend.

Hey there. So are you still going up to Chicago this next weekend? Looks like it's going to be pretty chilly up there. I fly in on Thursday night. So far she'll be able to stay with me the whole weekend so I'm pretty happy about that.

She's still doing pretty well in her A-School. They're picking duty stations next week so hopefully she'll get her first choice. I'll be saying prayers for that.

Hope all is going well with you all too. Take care.

Hi there. Hope all is going great with Ashley. Thanks for the info on Milwaukee. It sure looked a lot more manageable. I am soooo excited I can hardly stand it. I'm flying in on the 22nd and staying until the 26th. It'll be a short fast trip, but it'll still be great! When are you coming in? I've gotten us a room at the Springhill Suites which is where we stayed in August. It's a lovely hotel with really nice rooms so I just figured I'd stay again. I'm so happy that Shelby has phased up and will be able to stay off base. She has test 6 tomorrow and test 7 Friday. Only 8 more to go! Wow! It's a really tough school, but so far so good. How is Ashely liking it so far? I bet she is really excited for you to come visit. It's so different than what we went through for PIR. I just can't wait! lol

Aww I'm sorry to hear that she's having to go through that right now. She doesn't need that on top of just completing bc and waiting to class up. You sound like me though. I always want to "fix" things and sometimes it just drives my girls up the wall. I have a hard time letting them handle their own problems, but I am learning. We're moms. I don't think that it's possible for us to uninstall that feature. LOL. I hope things get better for her soon.

The insurance was something the kids were taught about in basic. I guess it covers all of their personal items and uniforms in the event of theft or damage. Just like renters insurance. I'm going to call USAA and ask them about it either tomorrow or Monday. I'll let you know what I find out.

I got a call from her a little while ago and she's already asking for some personal clothing items. She can't wait them until she's passed her 3rd test, but the time will get ahead of us if we don't send them out now I guess. Guess I should've taken up stock in the Postal Service or UPS. Haha.

Hey there. We'll be home today. Very long vacation. This last part we could have just skipped though because the hotel in Helen GA was so disgusting I could've screamed. The only bad thing is it's in the Mountains and a very small area so there's really no other place to go. Needless to say we checked out first thing in the morning. The ceiling in the bathroom was black with mold! Ewwww. I will boil all my belongings when I get home. LOL

Shelby sent me a message yesterday saying that she has classed-up and will start school tomorrow. She is so excited. In fact I hardly hear from her because she's been having so much fun making new friends. Haha. She has never had a problem making friends. So how's your daughter doing? Has she classed-up for school? I'll bet she's having a blast making new friends too. I was able to send Shelby her cell phone and Ipod, but I won't send her a computer until I get her the renters insurance that I've heard about. I think that's a good idea. I'm going to call USAA when I get home.

Well I've got to run now, but I'll be keeping in touch. Take care.

Hey there. I'm glad you made it home safe and sound. We too had a wonderful time at the PIR. It was an amazing sight. I am glad that the girls are friends too. I think it will help a lot to have a friendly familiar face while they are attending their A-Schools. Unfortunately Shelby's Liberty was marred by her boyfriend of almost 4 yrs deciding to pick her PIR day to break up with her via text. He too is a Sailor, but apparently he had issues about her joining so he broke up with her. She found that very shocking considering she'd been in the DEP program for a year and has been talking about it for the last 2 years. How sad for her on a day that was supposed to be a very happy one. She handled it well and I think her eyes were opened quite a bit. She has definitely matured over these past 8 weeks. I'm so very proud of her.

We are still on our vacation and are making our way around visiting relatives. Having a great time so far. I would absolutely love to have a copy of that photo of the girls. Please email it to me when you have the chance. Thanks again. I will promise to keep in touch. It was very nice to have gotten the chance to visit with you a bit before PIR. You all take care and we'll talk again soon.

Good morning. It was so nice to be able to have met you in person. It looks like our girls are going to be pretty good friends. I wish your daughter the best that life has to offer in her new Navy life. It's so exciting to think of their new lives. It's also sad too. I miss her so much already, but after spending this weekend Liberty with her I have no doubts. She loves it. Anyway, take care and hope to keep in touch in N4M.

Oh thank goodness. I should have trusted my daughter more. I guess she really is growing up and doesn't need mommy holding her hand all the time. Haha. I'm glad you made it back safe and sound and look forward to meeting you. See you on soon.

Hi again. Well I don't know whether to panic or not. I got a letter from my daughter, but she didn't confirm putting the names on the list. I don't know if the letters crossed in the mail or if she just forgot to write it in this letter. I mean I'm sure she put the names down because I mentioned it in three letters that I wrote to her, but I just don't know. I wish there was a way to find out for sure. I guess I'll wait to see if another letter comes tomorrow. I just don't want to screw up anybody's plans. Her letter was very short and was saying how much they had to do this week, but either way I just wish I knew. I feel bad.
