My son is a CM and will be there also after he graduates A school on the 6th. I would prefer that he would be stationed closer to home, but at least he will be on shore duty for 3 years. He and his wife are expecting their first child in Dec.

Hi seabee mom NO cell phones. Communications are all based on location location location. It's one of those things he won't know until he arrives. For peace and comfort of heart and mind I would prepare for pen and paper letters. It really does a lot for your nerves if you prepare for the worst possible outcome. This way if he can call/ get on the internet it will be that much better each time. I recommend Skype if he is going to have that capability to use a computer, but again LOCATION is the key. Be proud of your son and I know you are as nervous as any mother would be sending their child away to a dangerous location. My overall best advice is to remember he is a Seabee NOT a Marine or Soldier. As sad as it is to say this READ the listings of service members who have lost and are losing their lives in these wars. Branches of service mostly include the Army and the Marines. I read a paper the other day and there were only Army casualties in all the listings. Anyways. Goodluck to your Bee I encourage him to get his Seabee Combat Warfare Device and to work hard EVERYDAY. It will teach him good quality seabee work.

Hello, yes my son will be going to Iraq. He's with ACB-1 and from what I understand half of them are going one way and the others another. I forget what he said his unit is called now. I haven't gotten much info from him yet, he just got back off leave. So I am patiently waiting to learn more. Any suggestions?

sounds like they might be on the same ship, Cam has also been training with the seals and will be going to Kuwait/Afgan.

Cam will be on the USS Rushmore, he's with ACB-1.
I am not looking forwrd to his deployment mainly because
of un reliable communication.
