When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To cherish every little time I get to talk or see my son.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi Sil, im just about 45 or so miles northwest of Waco.Im in the country on Lake Whitney actually.By all means your son is right about his time. For me, this was planned way in advance because my daughter used all her leave after A school and would be alone and away for a very long time.My son is 21 and spent xmas with my mom and there really isnt anyone other than myself I had to worry about. My daughter became very close to someone in Gulfport (her "mentor") I call him her "guardian angel" and he was trying to help her get some leave but since that wasnt happening, I decided to try to go to her. She is only 19 & she is my best friend! It wasnt like a resort vacation, I never knew when she would get in so I just lounged and cooked. We watched alot of movies and she would go to bed very early. I needed to see her as much as she needed her mom. The base isnt so bad, small and plenty to do for the soldiers, but not a tourist town at all lol. There were alot of little things I thought we would do while I was there but just not enough time to plan for them. She works 4 days on 2 days off and she would get to leave early some days, but she never new what time it would be and some would get upset so that wasnt always something to plan on. The holidays are especially hard for us moms but the sailors get together and make the best of it. I was just blessed this xmas for a change. I love San Antonio and Gruene Hall expecially. I will definately holler at you next time im in the area.Well it been nice chatting, need to get ready for work tomorrow. Have a great weekend! :)

Im so sorry for not getting back sooner, Ive asked everyone Ive met, but no one seems to know him. Is he a guard at a camp? No one knew Melissa's husband either. He's an MA on patrol and that makes a big difference. Its my last day on the Island, Im so sad to leave. I feel like most of the younger ones have truely enjoyed having a mom figure here for the holidays and I feel so blessed that I was able to be here for my daughter and others. Hope you had a merry xmas and happy new years. your friend Teresa

Hey Sil, My son Paul PIR'd on 11-30-07. He is now on his first deployment so it's hard for me. Especially with him being away for the first time ever at Christmas time. Are you going to be able to make our meet and greet on Tuesday? Go to the event tab and check out the Let's Get Togther. I have 2 other moms who are coming and 1 maybe. It would be really nice to get together and share our sons. Hope to hear from you soon. God Bless you, Debbie
