wilma good to see you here. I love your little dog. I had a chihuahua for 13 years. He died in 98 and i can't bear to risk another heartbreak. so I invite Courage a friends dog to visit!
Sorry if my comments offended anyone. It might have sounded like i was harsh and i didn't mean to sound harsh. That is why i said it was my opinion. They do not make it a usual practice to punish and restrict a entire floor or barracks. Not to say it couldn't happen. But usually it doesn't happen that way. I am sorry wilma if i offended you in any way. I was only trying to help.
Wilma, I just read the comment on your discussion. I cannot believe the Navy Recruiter person's comments. Yes they did confine the entire class to the barracks, and yes they do punish everyone for someone else's offense. I also have a son in the Air Force, and it has happened to him as well. Tell Taylor to look for my son and talk to him. Where is your son's room? My son's room is next to the 3 payphones on the second floor on the right side. Tell Taylor to keep his head up and try and focus on what is at hand right now. I will keep him and you in my thoughts and prayers. Becky
Hi Wilma, I just got back today from visiting Michael in Meridian. It was an 11 hour drive there and back, but it was worth seeing him and seeing first hand what it's like there in Meridian. I signed Michael out on Liberty Friday night and then back in on Sunday evening at 9:40 PM. We didn't so much other than talk and rest. It was so nice to spend time with him. The reason the sailors are so bored there is because it is way out in the middle of nowhere and there isn't much to do. There baracks are on a hill and they have a Liberty Center which is not more than a small trailor with computers, 2 tv's and some video games. Keep in mind there are about 500 or more sailors there for these things. When they are not on duty they are allowed to leave the hill. There is a bowling alley, swimming pool, very small Nex, a lounge, and one fast food place. They are allowed off base liberty after they've been there awhile. To drive into the city of Meridian it takes about 35-40 minutes. There is a mall and a few other shops...hotels....ect. When we were there, some of the sailors got into trouble for having a party and underage drinking at one of the hotels. So, everyone got into trouble. In my opinion, the sailors get into trouble because they are bored, and frustrated because they are ready to be finished with school and go home. If yo have any questions, let me know. Sorry this is so long. Take care. Becky

Oh Wilma, I am SO sorry. I know your question has come up by many in either boot camp or A school and so often the privledges of all are lost as a result of just a few. I think it's called teambuilding. I hope that it is short term frustration for your son and things start brightening for him soon.
Hi Wima. My son has been there in Meridian for almost 4 weeks now. I can't say it has been that good of an experience altogether. He too has been bored, and frustrated. I am glad that he has had to learn how to be self motivated and self-disciplined. He is well into his schooling and should finish up before long. He is a Yeoman, and is liking the schooling part just fine. He is in a room that is full of guys that are a little mean. They talk about hazing, and they have played pranks on him because he was new. He gets along better now that he has been there a little longer. My son is very shy, and doesn't talk much. He tries to stay busy in his off time, but there isn't much to do there. I wish they had books to study or something, but everything is on the computer. I do wish the best for your son. Let me know if I can do anything to help you out. Becky
