Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was confused, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her, Said “No way!”
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To support your child as much as you can. It takes alot to say that you will die for your country.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hello WV mom of 2: I was looking over the "Undesignated....what's up with that?" site and looked at the members....I didn't remember seeing the picture you have posted before.....I certainly hope we didn't fail to welcome you, but it looks like we may have. I am SO sorry! I know what a trying time this is for both sailor and parent. If I can help with anything please let me know. My son has been undesignated for about a year, he is doing well and is ready to strike for a rate in the next few months. As you read the posts on the site you will find that almost all of our undesignated sailors are doing fine, they are well adjusted and thriving. Hang in there....it will be okay!

Yes, was your son their? Grant went with a friend, I guess his aunt lives nearby. I hope they are rested for battlestations. Do you know how they did at the Captions cup? I know they did not win, but maybe they finished second. Only a few more days I can hardly stand it.

Hi Melissa, yes I finally heard from Grant. He called on Thanksgiving. It was almost 4 weeks. We also got a letter yesterday. He said they have been very busy. Sorry I didn't get back sooner, I just found these post. Thanks for asking. See you at Flanagans on Thursday night? I can hardly wait.

My boys didnt play football, one was into cooking and the other band. They were geeks...lol...my daughter was in Marshall's band when they were making the movie and Matthew had come to a home game. She called me during half-time saying "I can reach out and touch his butt" It was so funny. It is nice here during the autumn because of the leaves chaning color and of course football..You have a big family. Mine wasnt that big....9 years between me and brother and 16 between me and sis.... Well, gotta go, have algebra to study and then class to go to.

I don't think I saw We Are Marshall, but I did see the previews. (At first, I thought I did, then I remembered that was Friday Night Lights, or something like that.) My husband isn't a football fan. You can tell he isn't from the hills! Besides, I think he's jealous of Matthew McConaughey because I think he's cute;-) Did your sons play football? My brother was a kicker in high school, then played semi-pro for a couple of years. I have 5 younger brothers and two younger sisters (a real hillbilly family!) I miss home, especially this time of year! There is no place better to enjoy autumn than the Appalachians!!

Yep, I'm from Western Maryland. Went to school in Williamsport, which is right on the WV border. My mom lived in WV until she was a teen. My uncle had a dairy farm in the Martinsburg area. Another Uncle lives in Berkley Springs. Which part of WV are you from? I love the Harper's Ferry area. My dad does Civil War reinactments all around that area. You should hear HIS accent!
