my son is stationed in conn. he was doing his laundry and went to check on the dryer and someone took his clothes out and stole all his very expensive FORGED t-shirts. he is very upset and has only been there for 3 weeks. he does not want to be there but can you blame him? it's pretty bad when you can't trust your fellow comrads..........

My son has been in the Navy a little over 2 years now. He is a Seabee and belongs to NMCB4. He has been to Guam, Spain, Romania and Bulgaria in those 2 short years. He has been home a total of 2 weeks total. Right before his last deployment we met up with him In Las Vegas for 5 days. It was great, but I soon had to tell him goodbye again. At first, when he told us he had enlisted-yeah-nothing from him until the "damage" had been done, I was very upset with him. The war in Iraq was raging and I…

Derrick just moved into his very own apartment in San Diego. It's on base in one of the high rises. On the 17th floor with city and Coronado Bridge views. He has no clue this is the perfect "Bachelor Pad with a View" place. I'm jealous. Wish I was there also .... esp when it is in single digits here in Chicago.

I'm so proud of him for finally finding the road he is still choosing to stick with, and yet I still miss him so much. I spent so many years giving and find it so difficult to let go. The early years were about teaching him to walk and talk. Then the years of teaching him to shut up and sit down when necessary followed, but nothing prepared me for this road we're on now. It's like we are in the car on a road to his future and the car stops for me to get out. Then I go back home and he moves on,…

My name is Chris and i'm going into the navy in june...i report for bc that is. I've been running into some confusion with my parents though. Right now my job is ABH which is "aviation boatswains mate handling" which I literally chose for the fun of it. I am aware that a lot of people chose the military to get ahead in life which i did. But I mostly chose it to see great things and do fun things. It might sound childish but to me I'm young and I want the experience of the World. Well later in…

My son is stationed in Bagram, Afghanistan. I try very hard to be very, very grateful for when I can IM him but I so miss his voice. He is a CTR so IM's are pretty one sided. He works nights, 12 on/12 off. I can't get a read on how he really is. What it is really like there. I know he chooses what he tells me and doesn't tell me so that I won't worry. He obviously can't talk about his job but I would have expected him to have found things to do with people by now. He arrived in country just…

I got my first letter today and I was so excited to get it and open it. I cried while I was trying to read it out loud to the other kids. He said it is tough but he will make it through and for me not to worry. He asked for us to please send him letters. I already had three going out since I got his address, hopefully he will get them soon, if he has not already..

My son is in Norfolk. He has been TAD to another ship since his is being refurbished. He is supposed to come home today. He has been deployed for about 20 days. He and his family are supposed to come to Tennessee to see me . I can't waite to see them. I just lost a brother, and Brad didn't get to come home so his trip home will be bitter sweet. Time passes so quickly so we need to cherish every moment we have with them. We never know what tomorrow holds for us. God Bless all the men and women…

We, hahahhaa! She is in and I also got my Proud Parent bumper sticker, heheheee....I am loving all the stuff they give us, I know that it is so cheesy but I just love it. I wear the lanyard at work, carry the water bottle everywhere, have a poster in my living room, and now will be putting stickers all over the place, ha! My other daughter will be joining the Army in a few years (if she stays on current path) so I'll be dual-decorated by then!
All went with the x-rays and she swore…

We sent off my son in O'Hare Airport, Chicago, he left for Naples, Italy. I can see his excitement and readiness to serve and advance and his commitment to the military. He told me his goal and being a Corpman. I am so proud and happy for him. Deep inside, I am sad simply because he will be far from us. Our family is very close, we greet with hugs and kisses almost everyday. Yes, I missed him so much. This morning, I woke up with my son's call from Rome, I was energized from his call... he told…

Hi Crystal,
I know what you are feeling, my son left for Iraq 2 weeks ago and made it there safely,(he called). I know you are feeling like it is the end of the world,I felt like that also, and still do sometimes. But this site has the greatest support system I have ever seen. And I thank god for it every day, otherwise I could not get through it. The Family Readiness officer told me about it. What you are feeling though is normal, we have all felt it, some of us still feeling like…
