I have always been proud of all the past and present servicemen and servicewomen and have always honored them in any way possible. Now, I have a different appreciation for the servicemen and servicewomen since my three children are part of the Navy. My daughter, Samantha, is a reservist, my older son, John, is full-time SARs and deployed now and heading overseas, my younger son, Matthew, is a DEPPER and ships out in July. Any time a news broadcast talks about the military, I stop in my… Continue

My husband and I attended our sailor's A School graduation today. I know I have seen several posts wanting to know what it is like and now I know. Today there were MM's, EM's and ET's that graduated. The graduation was at 9 a.m. but guests needed to arrive by 8:45 a.m. and be seated. There is a program given out to follow. The ceremony was an hour with several guest speakers. The Honorman were seated at the front and received their recognition. The sailors were frocked to Petty Officer as a… Continue

My daughter may be separated from Navy Boot Camp due medical injuries. She is currently in Ship 6 recouping.
If she is separated, does anyone know if it would be a Medical or General Discharge?
She told me she may also choose to come home to recoup and then go back at a later time to Boot Camp. As a mother, I am not sure this is a good idea as I know she is skeptical that she may suffer the same injuries or worse.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially about… Continue

I have some more questions. I heard from my daughter, she now has a
different diagnosis. First it was stress fracture of neck of femur
(shown by xray), then MRI was done and was inconclusive but she may
need surgery. then the latest was bone scan and she was told she would
not need surgery, there were no stress fractures or breaks but stress
reaction to her leg bones. She has yet to be seen by an orthopedic
doctor or any doctor.
Today she got to call me and… Continue

Only 15 days left until PIR! Somehow it seems time is slowing down this week? Can't get through the days fast enough. Where is a magic time machine when you need one?
So excited I can barely breathe!
