Here I was feeling sorry for myself because of my son leaving, and I get home and there's a message on the answering machine from the Marines trying to recuit him! I thought Alex joining the Navy would put an end to the recruiter calls. I actually laughed. Seriously, doesn't one hand know what the other hand is doing?

Hey everyone! Tony is doing great in Norfolk. He has finished "C" school and hopefully will become a 3rd class po
soon. He Loves his job and has just been doing awesome there. I miss him incredibly, but trust he is being taken care of. We are doing good here in Texas. We survived "Ike", but the house has alot of work that needs to be done. Life is good though! My job at the surgical center is good. It seems to be surviving. I'm very lucky to have such a great, diverse specialty. Nursing is…

Well just wanted to share that graduation was FABULOUS!!! When they announced Liberty Call I made my way down the bleachers and couldn't find my daughter? But apparently my dad saw her and saw her make a bee line straight towards me. When I saw her??? I can't tell you how overwhelmed I was with happiness, pride & joy etc.. She gave me the tightest, longest hug I've ever had from her. She started crying and told me I am so happy too see you Mom and I love you so much and missed you!! I was of…

I am so humbled and touched that so many of you have written and commented on my post about swearing in my son this coming week. Thank you so much. It just shows what a great family the Navy is! Even though I spent 24 years in the Navy myself, with Sam getting ready to go in, I am seeing things from a whole different perspective and it's very comforting to know there are so many Moms out there who understand! I feel like I just made hundreds of new friends.

I wasn't standing on the pier in person as she shipped off, but I was there in my heart. I saw the tears as she stood on deck sailing toward unknown adventures. That last phone call was very quiet as we both tried to keep it together. I'm excited to hear about her experience, and so proud of her service. God's speed to all of the brave hearts that set sail today on the wide blue ocean. You all are loved very much. Stay safe, be strong!

I was looking for something to watch and found this awesome series called "Carrier". It's on cet WORLD a public broadcasting channel. It shows what the sailors, pilots, and marines do and go through. It's really interesting and I recommend it.

I'm very very new to this. My son left July 22nd for boot camp in the Great Lakes. I got a call from him yesterday and he was very upset. He was going through a background screening and apparently the person he was talking to was very unpleasant about it all. He called me directly after to get me to try to get some info together for him. Hearing him so upset did nothing but upset me too. He needs a birth certificate, the status of an old bill in collection, the names phone number and addresses…

Very exciting news, my son and family are back in the USA after being stationed in Spain for 3 years. They are all settled in and are ready for the next 3 years. My husband just had heart surgery so we'll wait a few months before traveling to see them. Can't wait. Hope everyone is well and keeping up your spirits. It gets better - trust me.

Josh left for BC on Monday afternoon. (07/27/09) I'm a mess right now and it's only day 3!! When I took him to the recruiting station we found out that I was able to take him down to the hotel where he would be staying the night. We checked him in and then we were able to go and grab some dinner and went and saw a movie before he had to be back in his room at 11pm. He got up the next morning at 5am, ate breakfast, then was on a bus to MEPS at 6am. The recruiter told us that the swearing in…
