The sea is cold, the night is dark... the blowing wind is crisp,
I stare across the ship's huge deck... I did not get my wish.
I wanted so, to be at home... this year on Christmas Eve,
But this will be the year that I... did not get Christmas leave.
I stand and think about my family... gathered by the tree,
I know that one will say my name... and then they'll think of me.
I am not there to share their joy... my country needs me here,
But I am not the only one... who won't get home this year.

Sailor's Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, the ship was out steaming,
Sailors stood watch while others were dreaming.
They lived in a crowd with racks tight and small,
In a 80-man berthing, cramped one and all.
I had come down the stack with presents to give,
And to see inside just who might perhaps live.
I looked all about, a strange sight did I see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stockings were hung, shined boots close at hand,
On the bulkhead hung pictures of a far dis…

I was on base today and I saw a young sailorwalking with a sea bag, backpack, suitecase and another bag. It was raining and very cold so I asked him where he was going. He said Corpsman A school which is a good 15~20 mins walk in a rain with all that bags. I told him to hop in and gave him a ride.
He actually was on my husband's ship in bootcamp and he said he thinks he met my husband before. He told me he was going to a school in Pensacola but now he is going to a school to be a corpsman. He i…

I wanted to say on behalf of all RODNEY M. DAVIS Sailors, THANK YOU for ALL of the cards.
I know that you told me before they arrived of the quantity, but I know that I really did not realize the quality. The cards arrived onboard on 24 December as we arrived inport Vasco Nunez de Balboa, Panama. I had called away an All Hands working party to bring the mail and other stores (food and parts) onboard. The first truck on the pier to unload was the mail. The bags started to get unloaded and conti…

I am a small and precious child, my dads been sent to fight.
The only place I'll see his face, is in my dreams at night.
He will be gone too many days for my young mind to keep track.
I may be sad, but I am proud. My daddies got your back.
I am a caring mother. My son has gone to war..
My mind is filled with worries that I have never known before.
Everyday I try to keep my thoughts from turning black.
I may be scared, but I am proud..My son has got your back..
I am a strong and loving wife, with…

Well it's finally confirmed as of Friday, October 17th. I got a call from Luke telling me he passed Battlestations with flying colors. He made it sound like it was so easy. He seems to really have enjoyed this whole process. I'm so darn proud of that guy. I thank God all the time for bringing him to this idea of joining the Navy. This has been so good for him. It seems to just blend with his personality perfectly. I hope that will always be the case as he makes his way through A school and then…

In the two months that the Molly Adopt A Sailor program has been underway, many Navy Moms have so generously taken time to drop a card, write a letter or send a care package. Each month we select a different group of sailors to support. Our August Sailors are a Seabee group made up of both male and female sailors that have been stationed in Iraq since May 08.
Today we received this email communication from them and wanted to share it with you

Lord, what a wreck I have been. My cell phone has not left my field of vision for almost 5 weeks, as I have been anxiously awaiting a second call from Trae. Our plan was the same for this upcoming phone call as the last. Trae was to call my phone and then I would 3-way with his dad so we could all talk at one time. Good idea right? In theory, yes. As I stated my phone has not left my field of vision for 5 weeks, that is until today. I put the stupid thing on vibrate because I had a meeting this…
