On July 31, Adam graduated from Power School in an outdoor ceremony in Goose Creek, SC. We stayed in the Villas at Foster Creek, which are on the base. What a nice place to stay, it was actually an apartment with 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath and two half baths, a kitchen, dining room and living room...along with a laundry room. All this for only $65 a night! The ceremony was awesome and Adam looked so handsome in his dress whites! After the ceremony, we went to lunch and then back to our place for ca…

On December 19, after graduating A school and becoming a Petty Officer, my sailor son arrived home for 2 weeks leave for Christmas. What a wonderful time we had while he was home! We didn't plan much other than the family get-togethers, and there was on…

I am asking my N4M friend Lynne to post this for me. This is written so that you may gleam some wisdom or even better yet talk to your sailor about making unwise decisions.
I’ll begin with that moment in time I stood in anticipation as the doors opened and the sea of white Sailors stood at attention. Never had I been more proud and honored to stand with other family members as we watched those young men and women march before us. It was over as quickly as it had begun and we were one our way…

This afternoon the Fed Ex truck pulled into my driveway and I couldn't, for the life of me, think of anything my husband or me had ordered. When I answered the door, the guy asked for Adam and I told him he wasn't here but that I would sign. It was when he handed me the package that I saw the return address: Navy Exchange! The dvd of the PIR on June 13 had finally arrived!
Now, we have quite a collection of boxes for the tv: the vcr, the dvd, and the dvr box, so it is a major ordeal to play a d…

The Tea Cup....
Love this story or not, you will not be able to have tea in a tea cup again without thinking of this.
There was a couple who took a trip to England to shop in a beautiful antique store to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They both liked antiques and pottery,…

We arrived home in SC at around 3 am this morning. What a wonderful trip! I thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony but enjoyed getting to see my son even more! We had a wonderful meet and greet on Thursday with all the N4M's and families. We had a great time and thanks to Annette for getting…

It's finally here! We are leaving in about an hour to drive to Great Lakes! Plan to drive part of the way, stop for the night and go the rest tomorrow. It is about a 13 hour drive for us so we are allowing plenty of time. I am looking forward to meeting all the moms that I have met on here tomorrow night at our meet and greet. It is so hard to believe that PIR is only 2 days away! It seems like just yesterday that my husband got me to check this site out. It has been quite a ride so far, but I a…

I was having the hardest time paying attention in all classes I had to take today. My mind was on the phone in my pocket, wondering when it was going to ring. Finally, in the last class of the day, I got the call I had been waiting for. Adam said, "I am wearing my sailor ball cap, I am officially a sailor!" What wonderful words to hear! He had taken the run again on Wednesday and we did not know how he did. We didn't know if he was going to be pushed back or not. But he made the run with 9 secon…

Well, after getting a letter on Friday and Adam sounding so excited and upbeat (the best he has sounded since starting bc) we got a call from him last night and he seemed very discouraged. He has been having trouble passing the running part of the PT. He had tried yesterday and missed it by 3 seconds. His call home was to tell us that he will try again tomorrow, Wednesday, and if he doesn't get it then, he will be pushed back and will not graduate on the 13th as planned. I I pray that he can get…

Yippee!! We got a phone call this afternoon! About 1:30 the phone rang and I heard the familiar, "Hey!" He is still sick with the sinus stuff, but otherwise is still doing good. He passed the last test with a 5.0 and has earned another phone call for that, but was more proud that he will have another ribbon for his uniform because of it. He is still having trouble with the running for the PT test, but said he thinks he is about ready to get past that. I hope so. He qualified in the fire arms and…

Well, it seems that Thursday will be the official letter day for us. They have all arrived on a Thursday. Adam said he is doing good. Passed his first test only missing 1 question and also passed his first inspection. He passed his swim qualifications but fell short on the initial PT baseline test. He is working at it and says that he believes he can beat it. He said he is on 3-2 hold. I am not sure what that means. Maybe because he hasn't passed the PT test? Can anyone clarify this for me? He s…
