SURPRISE!!!!

This holiday season was just ordinary days to me. Without Lizzie being home, her brother and I fell into a rut of sorts where we didn't feel the cheerfulness of the holidays. It was always Lizzie with her bubbling personality that reminded us constently that the festive season was at hand. I finally managed to put up decorations the week of Christmas(OMG). I went to a few parties, spent time with family members, but......there was something still missing. Well, I got the biggest shock of my life… Continue

Thanksgiving

Hello everyone. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the year when families get together and reflect on the past months. Not everyone will get the chance to be with their family during the holidays. To those who will have your loved ones with you, enjoy them, love them, hold them them close, and appreciate the time that you do have to spend with each other. Try not to be in any conflict with each other for the time that you are together is short and precious. My daughter Elizabeth will not be abl… Continue

Appreciation

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.' One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his clos… Continue

Care Packages

Hello everyone. I hope that all is well. I have a lot to catch up on from the site, but there was an announcement from Molly about adopting sailors and sending them care packages. I truly feel that is a wonderful idea. We all know that our loved ones serving in the military miss the comfort of home. True, they miss us, but they also miss the small things that made life bearable. They appreciate those items a great deal. For example, Lizzie is on her ship, the USS Reagan at the moment. The phone… Continue

Tears' Day

Hi everyone. I know that I have not been on in quite some time. I am trying to finish up college to get my degree in accounting. Seem s like this last class is taking up all my time. Liz came home from FL on the 26th of August(Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa)!!! We got to spend time together and she spent time with some of her friends. But all good things have to come to an end. As you can tell by the title, that came to an end today. I took her to the airport about 2 hours ago. She is now heading towards her du… Continue

When it rains.......

Hi everyone. Sorry that I have not been in touch lately. It just seems like I have been on this "if it could go wrong, it will" trip. I'm in summer quarter for college class; my last class before I get that wonderful accounting degree. It's college algebra. Saved it for last 'cause I really and truly hate algebra(I have my 10th grade teacher to thank for that). Anyways, I'm struggling. I am not going to give up though. I have come too far and so close to obtain that degree. That's rain number 1.… Continue

Piercing

OMG!!!!! Elizabeth called me a couple of days ago. When I asked her how she was doing, she stated that she was sore. Being a concerned parent I asked her what was wrong. Laughingly she told me that nothing was wrong, but that she had gotten her belly button pierced that afternoon. I was shocked!!Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against piercing or body art(except when it is too much). It is just that Liz is afraid of needles and the fact that she chosed to have a needle stuck into her belly bu… Continue

Living in a military town

I live in Liberty County, Georgia. That's home to several small towns like Midway, Walthourville, Allenhurst, Sunsbury , and Hinesville/Ft. Stewart. For those who don't know Ft. Sewart is home of the 3rd ID. Those guys are finally coming home after being gone for 15 months. There are many homecoming celebrations going on to welcome them back. Although, MG Lynch is now leaving as the commander and is being assigned to a base in Texas. I understand that this is a site for those who are in the Navy… Continue

Letting go

Liz called me last night. She sounds so grown-up. Where did the time go? It seems like it was just yesterday that I held her in my arms and tried to protect her from the world. Although she has my mannerisms, she is more outgoing than I am. That's a good thing. By the good Lord's help, I raised her right. She has the drive and the determination to succeed and is not afraid to voice her opinion. She told me that she knows that I love her, but I have to stop trying to protect her and let her figur… Continue

Feeling left out

Ok all, I know that you have to go out there and introduce yourself to people. To me, that is a hard thing to do because I am shy. I did try to meet people when a bunch of us met at Flanagan's. Though the experience had left me feeling isolated from everyone. There were two wonderful couples seated not far from me engaging me in conversation. But I want to say all in all that I felt like an outsider. I still love Navy for moms site and hopefully, the next time we meet, I won't be so shy or feel… Continue
