Christmas Eve should have been a happy day.
Our house was decorated. Work was done at the small-town church where my wife, Ricki, and I are pastors. Our kids and their families were coming over the next morning. And best of all, Blake, my grandson, was coming with them.
Blake had just finished…

A tradtion that we have in our house before we eat thanksgiving dinner is that we go around the table and share what we are thankful for.
I am hopeful that each of you share a thought, a prayer or just a wish. Anything that you are thankful for.
I am thankful for many things this holiday
one my son will soon be back (safe and sound) from a long deployment supporting our troups in the middle east.
Another one is that my middle son married a great gal and I am fortunate that they are now expec…

Dentist has sweet deal for kids, soldiers
By GRETYL MACALASTER
Union Leader Correspondent
Auburn dentist Raymond Bolduc remembers enjoying his children's Halloween candy months after the holiday.
He also remembers finding pieces stashed in their bedrooms.
With childhood obesity and tooth decay on the rise, Bolduc and his son, dentist Richard Bolduc, decided to find a way to help prevent area children from overindulging in sugar-laden treats that fill sacks and pillowcases after trick-or-treat…

This is what one of my sailors wrote to me in an email about life on a sub, I had a good chuckle and thought that you all may enjoy the analogy of life on a sub.
I heard an analogy that sounds pretty apt though: to simulate life on a submarine, sleep in a closet in the basement with the TV turned on to something you don't want to watch. Wake up 4 hours after you fall asleep, eat something that isn't filling or tasty at all, then stare at a pile of thermometers for 6 hours. Every hour, write…

"Ragged Old Flag"
By Jounny Cash
I walked through a county courthouse square
On a park bench, an old man was sittin' there.
I said, "Your old court house is kinda run down,
He said, "Naw, it'll do for our little town".
I said, "Your old flag pole is leaned a little bit,
And that's a ragged old flag you got hangin' on it".
He said, "Have a seat", and I sat down,
"Is this the first time you've been to our little town"
I said, "I think it is"
He said "I don't like to brag, but we're kinda proud of…

Just to let you all know that although my heart is with you all my mind and soul is with my extended family at this time.
Last night at 7 pm in the city of Manchester NH there was a devistating fire and there was a loss of life, a sweet young, innocent 13 month old child who had so many milestones that he and his mom and dad will never get to witness.
The young child was the nephew of my friend who had taken care of this child from the time that he was 6 months of age until last month when his…

Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a DADDY!
Happy Father's Day to all the Daddys in the World!!
Fathers are Wonderful People
By Helen Steiner Rice
Fathers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
As often as we should...
For, somehow, Father seems to be
The man who pays the bills,
While Mother binds up little hurts
And nurses all our ills...
And Father struggles daily
To live up to "HIS IMAGE"
As protector and provi…

As a young girl I would participte in a memorial day service each yr and this was read at that. As a young person I did not understand the full meaning of this poem but .... well as a mom of sailors it touches my heart
The poppies blow
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and wer…
