Very, very cute.  I need to save it for when he starts BC.... Too soon for me to understand about Sharks and Ninjas though.
Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on June 10, 2011 at 3:27am

It's funny you should ask that! I just answered it on a PIR group.

Here it is:

Oooooo...mystical ninja's.

A ninja is a mythical being(s) that dresses all in black and goes around at night and plays pranks on SR.

If he can get away with it.

If not...IT!!!!

But they are just a myth ;-), if you get my drift!

Sharks are another form of punishment.

SR's lay on the floor, wave there arms and legs like they are swimming and repeat, "Please don't eat me Mr. Sharky...Seaman Recruits don't taste so good!"

Over the course of time this could be changed to,"Please don't eat me Mr. Sharky. I'm a dumb@$$."

IT- is intensive training for when they mess up and get "punishment". All kinds of physical training.

PIR-is Pass-in-Review. Boot Camp Graduation. Your Seaman Recruit will just know it as graduation though!

There are a lot of other Questionnaires on this site. That's how I made up mine. I printed and edited them all until I got one that "fit" me! I searched up in the search engine.

Good Luck and can't wait to see you on the boards in your PIR group. Good Luck to your future Sailor!

Figured out the SASE!  Sorry...so silly I didn't know...all these acronyms!   I knew most of this but what is Captains Cup and Marlinspike?
Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on June 22, 2011 at 4:19pm
Here are two posts that briefly explain CC and Marlinspike.

Comment by Julie (Adam's Mom) on August 28, 2008 at 5:41pm

I have read that the captain’s cup is a fun competition between the divisions. They compete in a number of physical activities such as push-ups, sit ups, softball throw, swimming, obstacle course, relays, and such. The winner gets to carry the BC Olympic flag at graduation.

Comment by JessicaB-Sailor Mom on April 17, 2010 at 3:06pm

Marlinspike is a life-size replica of a ship where rcts learn how to tie knots, handle lines, moor, put out to sea and other aspects of seamanship

In Captains Cup they compete against their brother DIV-the one that they pretty much do all of their training with. So the rivalry is there! There is an all-male DIV winner and an integrated winner. The Flag they can win is RED with white Olympic wings. My sons DIV won this in Boot. Here is a pic. It is not great but you get the idea!

In Marlinspike they have to really work as a team in order to “dock” the ship and get high points. The DIV are given points for almost (if not) everything. These are averaged out at the end to determine who gets the Hall of Fame Flag…the mother of all the flags.

I will be posting something on Flags and Pennants in the discussion area of your PIR group soon.
