Navy For Moms

Hi everyone,

My name is Danielle Cerino and I am engaged to my boyfriend of 5 years, he has always wanted to join the military and on Tuesday he fulfilled his dream. I am so proud of him but I miss him so much it hurts, whats worse is I missed his arrival call from RTC. He called when he arrived at Newark airport and said he would call as soon as allowed from RTC. From then on I had my phone in hand and by midnight I was asleep, only to wake up at 5am to see that I missed his phone call at 1:14am. I was so devastated, I just want to know if anyone else has missed their recruits arrival call and when they heard from them again?? Or is the next time when he sends his address?? Please somebody reassure me I am sick with anxiety. Thank you in advance for any response

No worries. You will get a letter from him around week 2. Then, probably a phone call around week 3 (although this can vary depending on what is going on with his division). "The box" with his clothes and paperwork will arrive about 1 week after he left. The form letter will come a few days after the box (my experience). Write to him everyday. Most recruiters can give you the address 72 hours after they arrive at BC. So, call his recruiter and ask for it. If they won't give it to you, ask his family to call and ask for it. You will definitely be communicating with him soon. The waiting is the hard part. Hang in there!

Hi. I'm Cindy and the other Cindy is totally correct. The recruiter can provide his address. The eight weeks in boot camp may seem like an eternity to you, but for your recruit, the time will fly. Let go of your anxiety. The Navy owns him now, and it's OK. There is certainly light at the end of the tunnel. When you see your new Sailor at PIR, it will be awesome!
