Navy For Moms

This thought just occurred to me while I was thinking about my mans PIR- after they call for Liberty, what happens after that? Do we wait until the announcers say we can go see our Sailors? Can we get up from our seats and go see them or is there someone guarding that way towards them that will stop us from going to them without the first order? How do we find them?

Another thing I want to know is during the ceremony, if we have to go to the bathroom, do we have to wait for the ceremony to be over or can we get up and go? (I plan on taking care of that beforehand, but it helps to be prepared in case of emergancy lol)

People will pour from the stands when they announce liberty. You will try to find your special sailor in the crowd of look alikes! :) You will finally locate him/her and latch on for the best hug ever! (we got info from our sailor before the ceremony - when he called to say he'd passed - so we'd know where his division was located in the room and could sit close to in front of him.

You can get up during the ceremony if necessary. When we were there one mom had to walk up and down with her little one because he could not sit still. And then someone passed out and the EMS had to come and load that person up and take them out.

I'm NOT tall and knew that if I rushed out there I'd be 'swallowed up' in the crowd . . . instead we stood up on the bottom row of (now empty) bleachers and waved (wildly) so he could come to us:)!

Also, the restrooms are located down some steps (behind/underneath) the seating area so easily assessible, and because you'll probably want to get there good and early, it's nice to know you can use them before the actual ceremony begins:)!

Have a GREAT time:)!

you will see his divison..then when they call liberity ,the crowd goes to the floor and u can look for your sailor..it has alot of seating,i am disable and they provided wheel chairs and sat me right up front..when u go in they will ask what division he is in and then they will show u where exactly where that divison will be standing..it is amazing..have fun and god bless...

You will be so full of emotion that you won't even think about if it is OK to go down there! Once they make the Liberty call, that is the end of the ceremony and everyone will literally run to the floor to get to their sailor. It is an experience of a lifetime! I know you will be so proud and congratulations to your sailor when he graduates!

Just remember that except for a hug, he won't be able to show any outward signs of affection. He could get into a lot of trouble for it.

RELAX and HAVE A GOOD TIME! The ceremony is awesome. You won't want to miss a minute of it. I suggest going to the bathroom before it starts. Then just go with the flow. Your sailor will know what to do. Some folks poured out of the stands to find their sailor on the floor - that was fun. Others waited in the stands for their sailor to find them - that was practical. After you find your sailor, you will go to your car and have a great weekend. :)
