It takes about a month for the pay to catch up, and yes, there are several large deductions the first two or so checks. Military paydays are the working day on or before the 1st and the 15th. He will eventually have a password/user ID for Mypay online, but you can't access that unless he gets the information to you. That's where his "paystubs" aka LES (leave and earning statement) will be posted. Also, be aware many recruits choose to go with Navy Federakl Credit Union once they hit boot camp, rather than their hometown banks. Often because NFCU is more flexible and accessible when it comes to moving around with the Navy.

In the meantime, you can contact the creditors and explain he is in basic training, many will put payments on hold until he is finished with boot camp. Can't hurt to ask.

The Navy Fed. Credit Union is the best route Agreed!!! He can have access to his money all over the world and I know for fact they offer great deals for loans. I had to contact my daughters bank here and tell them to not get ugly with her about her payment on an account she owed a whole $143.06 on. They were charging her $15 every 7 days...So I called em and good ole mom took care of that stuff...they credited every single penny back to her account. Then I went and paid it off for her & closed the account. Most will work with you when you tell them the situation. Yes the 1st & 15th are the magical days for pay days. Best of luck.
