Navy For Moms

My son has been gone a little over a week now and I miss him so much.. Most days I am ok but today was rough.. I am so proud of him, but I am a single mom and he is my first to leave the nest.. My husband, his dad passed away in a car accident when he was 6 and he would be so proud of his son.. I now only have my 14 year old son at home and it has been a big change for both of us..

How often do they get to call home and how often do they get to write?

They don't get to call often. The will write weekly. Its take a few weeks for the mail to start coming. They need time to get settled and the new people in the mail room trained. Calls and letters normally come between 2-4 weeks. Just no way to pin point time or day. When you leave forward your home phone to your cell.

I am not 100% sure but your PIR group could be at this link>>>http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir08172012

When you get your form letter you will know for sure. I am guessing that since he has only been gone a week you got the address from the recruiter. Careful those are sometimes wrong.

Hang in there.. Keep busy. Time will go by quickly.

Division 256 has been confirmed to be in the 08/17/2012 TG, so join the group, PIR 08/17/2012, to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Divisions 255 and 256 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.

You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here

You will find the answers to most of your questions and a lot of support within one of those groups.
